Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is beneficial for every age group rather its children, youth, employeed people and the retired to have at least one hobby. I strongly agree on this as it plays a significance role in the life through making it active and creative. Furthermore, it helps to live a stress free life.

First of all, age can not describe or make a difference to stay active or indulge in any healthy activity. However, it plays an important role to have a different hobbies in age frame. It is important because it gives your life a balance and create a diciplined life. For instance, swimming can be done by any age group, it helps to stay active and it needs consistency to learn the techniques and its also a recreational activity.

Secondly, hobby is all also refer as a lesiure time in which you can enjoy and pastime. Mental health problems is widely common and increasing day by day wheather its children, youngs, or elderly people. Having a hobby can act as a therpy, for example, many patients in the hospitals or elderly cares have nothing to do and there mind exhaust them which brings negative thoughts so by reading books or doing yoga can help them fight through these delusions or halliculations. In recent years, there was a research on patients of all ages who were having mental disorders. As a result, patients who were invole in some activites like painting or reading novels they were able to cope up faster and were recovered however, group of patients who were only on medicines and were having no hobbies, were recovered slowly.

To conclude, it can be finally commented that, having a hobby is essential for people of all age groups, as it provides enjoyment, reduces stress, and contributes to a balanced and fulfilling life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly agree that people of every age should have a hobby. You address the main task with relevant reasons, especially staying active, creating balance, and supporting mental well-being. The swimming example illustrates a hobby that can suit different ages, while the discussion of reading and painting gives a further reason. The conclusion also restates your view. However, some points are more fully developed than others: the claim that hobbies create a “diciplined life” is not explained, and the hospital example makes broad claims about recovery without clarifying how the activities help. To strengthen the response, explain each main benefit more precisely and connect examples directly to your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your opinion, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and a conclusion summarises the argument. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow. Some links, however, feel mechanical, and cohesion is occasionally weakened by unclear references. For example, in “there mind exhaust them,” it is difficult to identify who “there” refers to, while the long sentence about patients combines several ideas without clear boundaries. The opening body paragraph also moves from age to hobbies and discipline without fully explaining the connection. Use clearer pronouns and divide complex explanations into shorter, logically linked sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “consistency,” “recreational activity,” “mental health problems,” and “balanced and fulfilling life.” These choices show some range beyond basic words. However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision and can make parts difficult to read: “employeed,” “diciplined,” “lesiure,” “therpy,” and “halliculations” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “hobby is all also refer as a lesiure time” and “cope up faster.” Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully. More accurate phrasing would make your ideas clearer and help you use topic vocabulary with greater control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “who,” and “however.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main argument is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction remain noticeable. For example, “Mental health problems is” should use a plural verb, and “it gives your life a balance and create” needs parallel verb forms. The sentence beginning “In recent years, there was a research” also contains an awkward tense and article pattern, then runs on through several clauses. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and keeping parallel structures consistent; split long sentences where needed.
