Student answer (Band 6.0)
I strongly agree that everyone regardless of their age and occupation, should have at least one hobby. Having a hobby provides several benefits including reducing stress, improving mental health and developing useful skills.
Firstly, Hobby plays an important role in maintaining good physical and mental health. Because it allows a person to engage in activities which help them divert their mind from stress. Children can develop their creativity by taking part in activities such as playing games, reading and painting which will help them to improve their learning abilities. Similarly, Young adults can use their free time to explore their interest and develop new skills. For example, Learning to play a musical instrument or participating in debate can improve their confidence and encourage team work.
Secondly, hobbies are particularly beneficial for working people because it will help them to relax after a busy day. Many professionals experience stress due to work pressure in their professional fields. Therefore, activities such as going to the gym or gardening in their field can help them refresh their mind and maintain a healthy work-life balance. For instance, Old people who are retired can join in community programme and take part in activities such as participating in painting , joining social clubs where they can meet people and build good friendships with them. This will help them reduce their boredom and loneliness.
In my opinion, Hobbies should not be considered as a waste of time rather it should be regarded as a good opportunities where people get chance to explore new skills which they were not aware about.
In conclusion, I believe that having at least one hobby is essential for all ages. It not only makes life easier and happier. But also helps in maintaining physical well-being and personal growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly agree that people of every age and occupation should have a hobby, and you maintain this view in the conclusion. You address children, young adults, working people and retirees, with relevant examples such as painting, learning an instrument, gardening and joining social clubs. This gives the response solid coverage of the task. To develop the argument further, explain more fully how particular hobbies benefit each group; for example, the point about children improving their learning abilities is asserted rather than illustrated. The claim that hobbies make life “easier” could also be clarified. The response meets the task well overall, though some supporting ideas are less fully developed than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, a paragraph stating your opinion, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Similarly,” and “Secondly” help readers follow the main points, and the examples generally sit alongside the relevant age group. However, the second body paragraph moves from working people to retired people within the same long section, so the shift is not as clear as it could be. Some links are also mechanical, and the final paragraph repeats the central claim without adding much synthesis. Consider giving retirees their own paragraph and using clearer references to connect each example to the benefit being discussed. Overall, the organisation is coherent, but cohesion and paragraph focus are not consistently controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “maintaining good physical and mental health,” “work-life balance,” “confidence,” and “loneliness.” These choices make your examples relevant and understandable, and you attempt more specific expressions such as “professional fields” and “community programme.” Some word choices and collocations are less natural, however: “divert their mind from stress,” “refresh their mind,” and “good opportunities” do not express the ideas idiomatically. There is also repetition of “activities” and “help,” which limits flexibility. Aim to learn vocabulary in natural combinations and choose precise verbs, such as “relieve stress” or “recharge.” These issues do not prevent understanding, but more accurate collocation would make the argument sound more fluent and controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use both simple and complex forms, including a reason clause beginning “Because it allows a person…” and a relative clause in “activities which help them…” The meaning is generally clear, and you attempt to vary sentence structure. Some grammatical and punctuation errors remain. For example, “Hobby plays” needs an article, while “it will help them” shifts awkwardly from the general present to the future. The sentence beginning “In my opinion” has a faulty structure: “it should be regarded as a good opportunities” has a singular/plural mismatch and needs a clearer contrast with “not … but …”. In the conclusion, “It not only makes life easier and happier. But also…” is incorrectly split into two sentences. Review articles, agreement, tense consistency and punctuation around paired structures.
