Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's fast pace world having a hobby can realy make a differenc in peoples life. Having a hobby is importent for human beings of all ages. According to me it is a good way to distract oneself from their daily life and helps them spend some time with themselves to know themselves batter. It can also help them to intract with new people and make new connections.

World is full of stress, it can be work related, school or other life problems. Everyone needs some kind of pressure releaving hobby where they can be themselves and relax themselves, sonething that they look forwed. Most people think hobbies are expencive that's why many people are a little scaired to have one but it is not. I have introduced many of my friends to roller scating, which is my favourate thing to do, and they realy liked it, moreover they now convince their lovedones to go and find something to do which they like. Many people discover new things about themselves while finding a hobby.

In addition to that having a hobby that involve a group of people can be a great place to introduce your selves to new people. From finding a new friend to getting a new client for your business, possibilities are endless. For example my friend do online gaming as a hobby and he finds the love of his life on it, now they are togather with two kids living their best life.

According to me having a hobby that they like is the best gift someone can give to themselves. I have a great impact in my personal life after i picked up roller scating, my productvity at work increased along with assisting in obtaining a healthy lifestyle.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you believe hobbies benefit people of all ages, and you give relevant reasons, including stress relief, social connections and improved personal wellbeing. The roller-skating example adds personal support, while the story about your friend’s online gaming illustrates how a hobby can lead to relationships. This addresses the task, but some points are more fully explained than others. For instance, the claim that hobbies help people “know themselves” is not developed, and the benefits for children, working people and retired people are not distinguished. To strengthen the response, explain how particular benefits apply across these age groups and develop each example’s connection to your main argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces your opinion, develops stress relief and social benefits in separate paragraphs, and ends with a personal conclusion. Linking expressions such as “In addition to that” and “For example” help signal relationships between ideas. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening paragraph moves quickly from relaxation to meeting people, and “World is full of stress, it can be work related…” joins two complete thoughts with only a comma. References such as “they” in “a hobby that they like” are also not fully anchored to a specific group. Use clearer transitions between each reason and example, and make pronoun references explicit to improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “daily life,” “pressure,” “connections,” “productivity” and “healthy lifestyle,” and phrases such as “possibilities are endless” help express your ideas. However, spelling errors are noticeable throughout, including “realy,” “importent,” “expencive” and “productvity,” and these reduce the accuracy and ease of reading. Some word combinations are also unnatural, such as “pressure releaving hobby,” “convince their lovedones” and “a great impact in my personal life.” Aim to use a smaller set of accurate, natural collocations rather than reaching for phrases that do not fit. Proofreading for spelling and checking common word partnerships would make your vocabulary more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, for example, “Everyone needs some kind of … hobby where they can be themselves” and “I have introduced many of my friends to roller skating, which is my favourite thing to do.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “a hobby that involve a group” (subject–verb agreement), “my friend do online gaming” (agreement), and “I have a great impact” where the intended meaning appears to require a different grammatical construction. The sentence beginning “World is full of stress” also has a comma splice. Work on agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, then check each sentence for a complete and correctly connected structure.
