Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is irrefutable that hobbies are an important part of everyones life. It is very hard to discuss wheather everyone should have at least one hobby in their life or they can live without having any favourite goal or habit. This modern world has undergone sea changes but hobbies are still an unbreakable part in humanity.

To begin with, in this modern era technology has developed beyond imagination in past few years. In simple words, lifestyle become more busy and easy due to the developmet of technology. For example, in the past when mobile phones were not popular most people like to read books. But nowadays, social media has replaced this with its own impact. Moreover, expensive lifestyle also played its important role to remove hobbies from life. With the growth of time and technology it become very hard to afford necessary things for a normal families. To manage these expenses people started working more and hard to run with the moderanization.

In my opinion, hobbies can represent the internal personality of any person and also important to balance the healthy lifestyle. It plays a crucial role to reduce stress level after a long working day. For example, some people like to do gardening or listening music. This simple process can help them to reduce stress and have healthy lifestyle.

To put in a nutshell, i pen down to say that hobbis are beneficial for people to stay active and socialized. So everyone should have atleast one hobby improve personal skills and make life more enjoyable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear overall opinion that hobbies are beneficial and that everyone should have one, especially in the conclusion. You also offer relevant reasons, including stress reduction and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with examples such as gardening and listening to music. However, the response only partly develops the task: the opening raises whether people can live without hobbies, but this question is not explored, and the discussion of technology and rising expenses mainly explains why hobbies have declined rather than fully supporting your view. The task refers to people at different life stages, but your answer does not consider how hobbies may benefit children, young adults, workers, and retirees differently. Develop a few reasons more fully and connect each one directly to your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally group related points, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “To put in a nutshell” help show the direction of the discussion. However, progression between ideas is not always clear. The first body paragraph moves from technology to reading habits and then to living costs and longer working hours, without clearly explaining how these points support your opinion. Some links are also mechanical, and the opening sentence of the second body paragraph would connect more smoothly if it explicitly contrasted your view with the obstacles described earlier. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and make each paragraph develop one central point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “internal personality,” “reduce stress level,” “healthy lifestyle,” and “modernization,” and the main ideas remain understandable. There are also some noticeable spelling and word-choice problems that limit precision, such as “wheather,” “developmet,” “moderanization,” and “hobbis.” Several expressions are unnatural or imprecise: “sea changes” does not fit naturally in “undergone sea changes,” while “run with the moderanization” does not clearly express your meaning. “Favourite goal or habit” is also an unclear way to describe a hobby. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your vocabulary more effective without requiring unnecessarily complex words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and some longer structures, including a conditional example beginning “when mobile phones were not popular” and a sentence explaining that hobbies can reduce stress after work. However, control is uneven, and errors sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “lifestyle become more busy,” “it become very hard,” and “people started working more and hard,” where verb forms or sentence construction are faulty. There are also agreement and article problems in “for a normal families,” and punctuation is inconsistent, particularly missing spaces after commas and the lowercase “i” in the conclusion. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries, then proofread each sentence for these patterns.
