Student answer (Band 5.5)

Hobbies tells the person's personality and their interpersonal skills. Some critics are in favour of this notion that hobbies are imperative to be in individuals life. However, in my opinion I think that everyone should have atleast one hobby. There are multiple reasons which i will explain in the upcoming paragraphs.

Primary reason of having hobbies is relaxation because it freshens up the mind. Everyone is busy in their working schedules. For example: People daily go to their work early in the morning and come back in the evening. Therefore, they do not have plenty of time to enjoy because they feel tired, and prefer to go to the bed early. Resulting into, they lose their interest slowly towards their favourite things , and keep moving with the same work schedules. Consequently, it can increase the stress and fatigue. Although if individual have any hobby, they can enjoy , and it can refresh their mind.

Moreover, it can help to make carrer. To explain this, I would like to give an example of a cricketer Shubhman Gill, who loves to play cricket , and this is his hobby from childhood, and presently he is the captain of Indian Cricket team. Therefore, hobbies can help to achieve your goals.

To conclude, hobbies play an important role in everyone's life. It helps to achieve the desired dreams. I personally feel that, a person should give some time to themselves so that they can learn their likes and dislikes. If anyone feel depressed then the hobbies can help them to get out of that trouble.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that everyone should have a hobby, and you give relevant reasons about relaxation and career opportunities. The example of Shubhman Gill supports the point that a hobby can develop into a profession. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The first body paragraph describes tiring work routines, but it does not explain in much detail how a hobby helps different groups, such as children, young adults, or retired people. The career point is also brief and relies on one example without explaining how hobbies generally help people reach goals. To strengthen the response, develop each reason with a clearer explanation and a specific example, while keeping your opinion consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from relaxation to career benefits, and linking expressions such as “For example,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” help signal this movement. However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear. “Resulting into” does not form a clear link to the preceding sentence, and “Although if individual have any hobby” creates a confusing transition. The first body paragraph also repeats the idea of work schedules and tiredness before reaching its main point. Improve cohesion by using more natural transitions and making each sentence clearly build on the previous one; clearer paragraph development would make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “relaxation,” “stress and fatigue,” “interpersonal skills,” and “achieve your goals.” These choices allow you to communicate the main ideas, and there are attempts to use more formal expressions such as “imperative.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “tells the person's personality,” “in individuals life,” and “make carrer.” Spelling and form errors such as “atleast” and “carrer” also reduce precision. Some phrases, including “favourite things,” are vague where a more specific description would help. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling and word forms; this will make your vocabulary more natural and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures with “because,” “therefore,” and “so that.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but errors occur in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “Hobbies tells” should use a plural verb, while “if individual have” needs an article and matching verb form. The sentence beginning “Resulting into” is a fragment, and “If anyone feel depressed” also has an agreement error. Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly around commas and spaces. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and finite verb, and use complex clauses only when their structure is complete. More accurate control of these patterns would improve clarity.
