Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Khushi,
Hope you are doing well. It's been a long time since I have met Rahul and all of you. I would love to share my personal experience during studying abroad.
I've had my professional year in Germany at Carlton University. As I am a pshychology student, I had gained multiple opportunities to attend the workshops by different international scholars which helped me to learn an additional concepts as well.
If I talk about the place, I could say that the Germany is one of the best destination for study as they have numerous well-known institutions. However, It not solely provides you a better learning environment but also gives you multiple part -time work opportunities. Working and studing in such developed nation broaden your horizon and equip you with various life skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking.
Moreover, international schools emphasize more on praticle learning rather than theortical knowledge which provide you better understanding and deeper learning of difficult topics.
I would recommend you to spend a year studying overseas. Let me know if you need any other information. I am just a call away.
Best regards,
Rajveer

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly state where you studied (Germany, Carlton University), describe what you learned about the country (the academic environment and work opportunities), and explain the benefits for your studies (practical learning and life skills). The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend's sister, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, providing a clear picture of your experience. To reach a higher band, ensure that all specific details, such as the name of the university, are accurate and avoid minor factual inconsistencies regarding the nature of the institution.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your experience easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Moreover', and 'If I talk about', which help to link your ideas. To improve, try to vary your linking words further and ensure that the transition between sentences is smoother. For instance, the jump between discussing Germany as a destination and the benefits of international schools could be bridged more naturally to enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'international scholars', 'broaden your horizon', and 'theoretical knowledge'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'pshychology' (psychology), 'praticle' (practical), and 'theortical' (theoretical), which slightly detract from the quality of the writing. While your word choice is generally clear and appropriate for the context, you could improve by incorporating more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. Focusing on accurate spelling and using more sophisticated synonyms will help you achieve a higher band score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Working and studing in such developed nation broaden your horizon'. However, there are several grammatical slips, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'the Germany is', 'It not solely provides') and minor punctuation errors. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to articles (the/a) and ensure that your verb forms consistently match the subject. Proofreading for these small errors will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
