Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Khushi,
Hope you are doing well..It's been a long time since I have met Rahul and all of you. I would love to share my personal experience while studying abroad.
I've had my professional year in Germany at Carlton University. As I am a psychology student, I have gained a multiple opportunities to attend the workshops by different international scholars which helped me to learn additional concepts as well.
If I talk about the place, I could say that Germany is one of the best destinations for studying as they have numerous well-known institutions. However, it not only provides you with a better learning environment but also gives you multiple part-time work opportunities. Working and studying in such a developed nation broadens your horizon and equips you with various life skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking.
Moreover, international schools emphasize more on practical learning rather than theoretical knowledge which provides you a better understanding and deeper learning of difficult topics.
I would recommend you to spend a year studying overseas. Let me know if you need any other information. I am just a call away.
Best regards,
Rajveer

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly state where you studied (Germany/Carlton University), describe the benefits of the country, and explain the academic advantages of the experience. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend's sister, maintaining a helpful and encouraging persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed to meet the requirements of the task. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific personal anecdotes about your time in Germany to make the letter feel more authentic and less like a general recommendation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Moreover', and 'If I talk about' to transition between ideas effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of your experience. The progression of ideas is smooth, and the relationship between the study abroad experience and the benefits is easy to follow. The letter is well-structured and easy to read, demonstrating a good command of organizational features.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'international scholars', 'developed nation', and 'theoretical knowledge'. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'I've had my professional year' (which sounds slightly unnatural; 'I completed my professional year' would be better) and 'gained a multiple opportunities' (which should be 'gained multiple opportunities'). Despite these occasional inaccuracies, the vocabulary is precise enough to convey your message clearly and effectively throughout the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Working and studying in such a developed nation broadens your horizon and equips you with various life skills'. While there are some grammatical slips, such as 'international schools emphasize more on' (should be 'emphasize') and 'provides you a better understanding' (should be 'provides you with'), these errors do not impede communication. The majority of your sentences are clear and well-constructed, showing a good level of control over basic and some complex grammatical forms.
