Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: the location of study (Vancouver, Canada), what was learned about the country (cultural diversity and traditions), and the benefits for studies (confidence and practical skills). However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of how the year abroad helped with studies is a bit vague, focusing more on general confidence than specific academic outcomes. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend's sister, though the structure is slightly disjointed in places. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples of how the academic environment in Canada differed from your home country and how that specifically enhanced your university performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'the main reason for this is Canada is wide nation' or 'Thus, the first thing required confidence here'. The logical flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, which makes the progression of ideas feel a bit forced. While the letter is coherent overall, the transitions between the description of the course and the personal benefits of the year abroad could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used in the correct context would significantly enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'enrolled', 'utilization', and 'communities'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'reached me out' (should be 'reached out to me'), 'delight to saying' (should be 'delighted to say'), and 'made me perfect in the term of' (should be 'helped me develop'). Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'tought' (taught), 'Puntuctuality' (punctuality), and 'Supervisior' (supervisor). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they do limit the precision and sophistication of your writing. Focusing on accurate word forms and common collocations will help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'the year i spent in Canada was proved fruitful' (passive voice error), 'This course not only include' (subject-verb agreement), and 'My studies in abroad' (incorrect preposition usage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and spacing around hyphens. While you attempt to use complex structures, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction means that the control is not consistent. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound.
