Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Shruti,
I'm your brother's friend writing this letter to guide you for your further one study out of country.
I came here in Mississauga city of Ontario, Canada. I went to Sheridan College in Cyber Security Course. College helped me a lot in my placement. I'm getting very handsome package now.
Studying in Canada specially in Sheridan college always give you beautiful campus environment such as library, playgrounds, many personal common areas and students from different countries can gives you opportunity to learn about their traditions and cultures.
Studying abroad helped me a lot. I have three years of work permit now. i have high paying job with permanent residency assistance. My work is 5 days a week and weekends always spend somewhere outside for getting some refreshments and explores the beautiful Canada.
I hope this information would be beneficial for you and looking forward for any more concerns you have.
Yours faithfully
Vishal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all the required bullet points of the task well. You successfully told the reader where you studied, mentioning Mississauga, Ontario, and Sheridan College. You described aspects of the country and college environment, such as the campus amenities and multicultural student body. Furthermore, you explained how the year abroad helped your studies and future career prospects, including obtaining a work permit and a job. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the tone is generally appropriate for writing to a friend's sister, although the opening is a bit awkward. All parts of the prompt are well developed and addressed, fulfilling the requirements for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a clear logical organization with separate paragraphs for different aspects of the experience, such as the location, the campus environment, and the career benefits. However, there are some issues with cohesion and referencing. For instance, the transition in the opening sentence ('I'm your brother's friend writing this letter...') is a bit abrupt. Paragraphing is used to separate ideas, but some cohesive devices are basic or missing. For example, sentences like 'Studying in Canada specially in Sheridan college always give you...' could be linked more smoothly. Overall, the arrangement is coherent, earning a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common collocations and phrases such as 'Cyber Security Course', 'multicultural', 'permanent residency assistance', and 'handsome package'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as writing 'further one study out of country' instead of 'further studies abroad' and 'handsome package' which is somewhat informal or awkwardly placed. Spelling is generally accurate, but the lexical limitations and slight unnaturalness in word choices place this response at a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. You successfully use structures like 'Studying abroad helped me a lot' and 'College helped me a lot in my placement.' However, there are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'writing this letter to guide you for your further one study out of country' (preposition and article errors), 'specially in Sheridan college always give you' (subject-verb agreement), and 'i have high paying job' (missing article). Punctuation and capitalization errors also appear, such as the lowercase 'i'. Because these errors do not impede overall communication, the writing achieves a Band 5.5.
