Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Anu,
I hope you are doing well. I feel so proud of you after knowing that how you passionate about your study. I am writing to give you all the information about my experience as you asked for.
I was pursuing finance and banking course from Conestoga College located in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Basically this is a public college. It was great experience to study in this college. All the faculties were very friendly and experts in their particular subjects. Teaching methods are all advance and easy to understand.
I learn a lot during my study, not just about subjects but also about country. It's culture, surroundings and visiting places. I personally really enjoyed trip to Niagarase fall. You should visit when you go to Canada.
I can say that it was my best decision to study abroad. It contributes a lot in my career, when I came back from Canada ,I got admission in my dream collage for my masters. I got first grade in first year of my masters.I think this is because of gained knowledge from proficient professors and the advance teaching methods of the college.
Feel free to ask me anything regarding this.
Kind regards
Kajal.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter successfully covers all three bullet points from the prompt in a natural and friendly tone appropriate for a general task. You clearly stated where you studied, mentioning Conestoga College in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. You also described what you learned about the country, highlighting its culture, surroundings, and trips like the one to Niagara Falls. Finally, you explained how the experience was helpful for your studies by noting how it contributed to your career and admission to your master's program. The purpose of the letter is clear throughout, and the ideas are adequately extended, meeting the requirements well for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
Your letter has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, starting from the friendly opening, moving to your college experience, then cultural learnings, and finally academic impacts. However, there are some minor referencing issues and mechanical transitions, such as 'Basically this is a public college' and 'It's culture, surroundings and visiting places,' which disrupt the smooth flow of ideas. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, and cohesive devices are generally present, even though some are basic. These elements fit the criteria for a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases like 'pursuing finance and banking course,' 'proficient professors,' and 'advance teaching methods.' However, there are several word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as saying 'how you passionate about your study' instead of 'how passionate you are,' 'faculties' instead of 'faculty members,' and 'Niagarase fall' instead of 'Niagara Falls.' Spelling and word-form slips also appear, such as 'collage' instead of 'college.' These errors do not impede communication, placing your vocabulary performance firmly at Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms in your letter, such as 'I am writing to give you all the information about my experience as you asked for.' However, there are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('pursuing finance and banking course'), incorrect word order ('knowing that how you passionate'), and tense or preposition slips ('gained knowledge' instead of 'gaining knowledge'). Punctuation is also slightly flawed in places, such as spacing before commas. While these errors occasionally cause minor readability issues, they do not impede overall communication, supporting a Band 5.5 score.
