Dear........,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Hye leena,
I hope you are doing well. I am extremely happy to hear that you are considering yourself for studying abroad.
I really want to appreciate you for this initiative that you are planning to do. Last year, I got admission in Univerity of Niagarafalls Canada for my course in Design and Marketing. That country made my dream comes true. I got experience in my field of education with interactive communication skills. A part from that, It makes me more independent and patient. The university itself has a great reputation among the best universities there. The professors were super supportive and guide you properly even if they had a hectic schedule. They always gave priority to their students first.
In addition to that, I learnt a lot from their diverse culture and humanity. I tried all of their multicultural cuisines, traditional festivals and learnt about their cultural history. Moreover, Canada always welcome International students with open hands and always gives more opportunities to the deserving students. So, I advice you to stay calm don't get stressed and avail this time and give your best to explore new endavours.
I hope my suggestions will help you in future. If you want anything else just do let me know.
Yours Sincerely,
Raana Rao

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response effectively covers all bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly stated where you studied by mentioning "Univerity of Niagarafalls Canada for my course in Design and Marketing," described what you learned regarding the "diverse culture and humanity" and multicultural cuisines, and explained how the year was helpful for your studies by highlighting supportive professors and practical experience in your field. The tone is appropriate for an informal letter to a friend's sister. While there are a few minor generalisations, all parts of the task are fully addressed and supported with relevant details, fulfilling the requirements for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter follows a logical organisation and progression throughout. You start with an appropriate opening greeting ("Hye leena,"), transition smoothly into your personal experience using cohesive devices such as "A part from that," "In addition to that," and "Moreover," and conclude with encouraging remarks and a standard sign-off. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct ideas, such as university benefits versus cultural learnings. However, there are minor cohesion slip-ups, such as spacing issues in "A part" and occasional mechanical referencing, which place this performance firmly at a Band 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully using terms like "interactive communication," "independent," "diverse culture," and "multicultural cuisines." There are, however, some noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as "Univerity" instead of university, "endavours" instead of endeavours, and the phrase "considering yourself for studying" which sounds unnatural. Despite these occasional inaccuracies that require minor re-reading, the vocabulary is flexible enough to convey your ideas clearly, aligning with the Band 6.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You successfully utilise a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating clauses with relative pronouns and conditional ideas such as "guide you properly even if they had a hectic schedule." There are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues present, including tense shifts and article omissions, such as "Canada always welcome" instead of welcomes, "I advice" instead of advise, and "don't get stressed and avail this time." While these errors occur regularly, they rarely impede overall communication, supporting a Band 6.0 score.
