Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Riya,

I hope you are doing well. It was great to hear that you are thinking about applying the same course that I took. I took a one year course from Trend University in Canada, Ontario and my course was Financial Analytics beacuse my backgound was commerce.I learned so many things from this country. I learned the traditions and various cultures because In canada people are living from different types of countries. Moreover, I improved my English langauge and I learned basic French. Furthermore, I learned to make different types their traditional cusins and drinks.

There are several year abroad was helpul for my studies. To begin with, subjects were practical and theory based so morethan five presentations are included in the two semesters.

I was quite nervous to speech infront of the class and professors however, after two presentation I am very confidents to take a PPT and class lectures as part of my course.

Also, friends was really helpful to prepare the group assignments and I learned problem solving skills and how to lead a group. And, printing machines , library and computer lab were helpful for my education.

A per the application process, my advise would be start preparing the application earlier , carefully and gather all necessary documents including your academic certificates and references. You should also write a strong personal statement for choose the course at Trent University.

If you have any doubts and concerns please let me know.

Yours Lovingly,

Krish.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all parts of the task well. You successfully told the reader where you studied (Trend University in Canada, Ontario), described what you learned about the country, such as traditions and various cultures, and explained why the year abroad was helpful for your studies by highlighting practical subjects and presentations. The tone is appropriately informal for a letter to a friend's sister, and the purpose of the letter is clearly achieved. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed throughout the response, although some minor details like spelling mistakes appear, they do not hinder the clear delivery of the message.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter demonstrates a clear logical organization with appropriate paragraphing used to separate distinct topics, such as location and learning, study benefits, and application advice. You effectively use cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'To begin with' to link your ideas, although there is occasionally some mechanical use or slight awkwardness in transitions. Referencing is generally clear, and the overall arrangement of information guides the reader smoothly from the introduction to the closing remarks, meeting the criteria for a well-structured personal letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary has an adequate range for the task, allowing you to discuss your university course, cultural experiences, and the application process. You attempt some less common vocabulary such as 'Financial Analytics', 'practical and theory based', and 'personal statement', but there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout, such as 'beacuse', 'backgound', 'langauge', 'cusins', and 'advise' instead of 'advice'. These lexical errors do not impede communication, but they reflect a level where vocabulary control prevents a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating subordinating clauses like 'It was great to hear that you are thinking about...' and 'I was quite nervous to speech... however, after two presentation...'. However, there are several grammatical errors and awkward structures, such as 'thinking about applying the same course', 'people are living from different types of countries', 'There are several year abroad was helpul', and 'nervous to speech infront of the class'. Punctuation is also occasionally faulty. These errors rarely impede communication, but they prevent the attainment of a higher band.
