I hope this letter finds you in radiant health and best of the spirits. I got to know from your brother that you are thinking to study in Japan as part of your university course.
As per my academic experience in a same country, I believe you choose perfect place for the university course. During my academic years, I studied in the XYZ university, which is located in the middle of the country. I gained useful skills durting that time. Firstly, as Japan is known for the cleanliness habit of their citizens, I learnt that How can we keep our surroundings tidy for better health. Moreover, I learnt a foreign language as well for better future.
Those years were prductive insense of learning foreign language and that habit, due to that I had able to get into the multinational company, which is useful for my future. I hope this information would be helpful for selecting your study abroad country.
Best wishes,
Cheng

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The candidate successfully covers all bullet points required by the task prompt. First, the letter clearly identifies the study location as XYZ university in Japan. Second, it describes what was learned, specifically mentioning the local habit of cleanliness and the acquisition of a foreign language. Third, it explains how the year abroad helped their studies and career progression, noting that these skills enabled them to secure a position at a multinational company. The tone is suitably friendly and appropriate for a letter to a friend's sister. Although some ideas are expressed simply, all parts of the prompt are addressed with relevant details, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear beginning and ending. Paragraphing is used to separate different points, such as the introduction, the description of the university experience, and the concluding career benefits. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transition markers like 'Moreover' are used, but sentences such as 'due to that I had able to get into the multinational company' demonstrate weak referencing and clunky connection between ideas. Overall organisation is present, but progression is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, aligning with a Band 6.0 score.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'radiant health' and 'multinational company'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and spelling. For instance, the phrases 'in radiant health and best of the spirits' (instead of 'high spirits'), 'durting' (spelling error for 'during'), 'prductive insense of' (spelling error and unnatural collocation for 'productive in the sense of'), and 'cleanliness habit' indicate limitations. While communication is not impeded, these frequent lexical errors restrict the score to a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'you are thinking to study' (instead of 'thinking of studying'), 'in a same country' (missing article), 'you choose perfect place' (missing article), 'learnt that How can we keep' (incorrect capitalization and word order in a noun clause), and 'I had able to get' (grammatical error for 'I was able to get'). These errors occur frequently and cause occasional difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar performance firmly at a Band 5.5.
