Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the letter prompt. You clearly stated where you studied, mentioning London and BPP University for your MSc healthcare leadership course. You also described what you learned about the country, highlighting London's cultural diversity, the kindness and politeness of its people, and its reputation in sports and literature. Finally, you explained how the year abroad helped your studies by providing practical and theoretical knowledge that boosted your confidence and skills for your future career. The tone is appropriate for writing to a friend's sister, maintaining a friendly and helpful register throughout. Ideas are relevant and fully developed, meeting all task requirements effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall structure with an appropriate opening greeting ('Dear Priya,') and a natural closing. Paragraphing is used logically to separate different themes, such as the choice of university, the cultural observations about London, and the academic benefits. However, cohesion is sometimes slightly mechanical or repetitive in transitions, such as starting multiple sentences and paragraphs with 'Also' or 'Furthermore'. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences lack smooth connective tissue, which keeps the response at a band 6.5. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow, and the letter reads cohesively as a personal correspondence.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate and relevant range of vocabulary suited to the task, including terms like 'diversity', 'healthcare sector', 'theoretical knowledge', and 'ambiance'. There are, however, some lexical and spelling errors that detract from the overall quality, such as 'equpiments' instead of 'equipment', 'resepectfull' instead of 'respectful', and 'theoratical' instead of 'theoretical'. Additionally, phrases like 'thinking to take university course' contain unnatural collocations. Despite these errors, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly without impeding the reader's understanding.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating a reasonable command of grammar. You successfully use relative clauses and compound sentences, such as 'The college I selected was great choice as it comes in top five colleges of London.' However, there are noticeable grammatical errors throughout, including missing articles ('comes in top five colleges', 'gain practical'), punctuation slips in greeting and closing punctuation, and run-on sentences ('thinking to take university course abroad just like me so, I 'm writing...'). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the grammar score from reaching a higher band.
