Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Iqra,
I hope you are doing well.I am writing in response to your letter that you are planning to spend one year in study out of country for your university course.
As you want to know about my experience during my course,I would like to tell you that ,I did my complete course from University of kent , United Kingdom. This institute is best for pharmacy related courses and mostly Pakistani students are already enrolled in this organization.
UK is known for their best educational standards. They trained their graduates to become a competent person. Moreover,by studying in this country,I improved my analytical skills, attention to detail and become confident. Also, I am impressed by the rules there , everyone should have to follow these, the best is that I get practical as well as theoretical knowledge here as compared to our country.
Furthermore, studying in this country has proven helpful for me, because I don't feel any diffulty in my theseis and passed my defence easily by scoring good marks. As a result,I gain valuable knowledge which is very beneficial for me.
I hope you find my experience helpful.Feel free to contact me if you need further assistance.
Best regards,
Noshaba

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You successfully covered all parts of the prompt in your letter to Iqra. You mentioned where you studied by writing 'I did my complete course from University of kent , United Kingdom', described what you learned about the country by highlighting its educational standards and rule-following culture, and explained why the year abroad was helpful for your studies by noting how it aided your thesis and defense. Your tone is appropriately friendly and conversational, matching the informal letter format well. Ideas are extended nicely, particularly regarding the development of analytical skills and practical knowledge. This places your task achievement firmly within Band 6.5 to 7.0, and since all bullet points are clearly addressed with good supporting detail, a solid Band 7 is awarded.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter has a clear overall progression. You organized your thoughts into manageable paragraphs, starting with a friendly opening, moving to the location and country details, explaining the academic benefits, and closing warmly. You used some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Also', and 'Furthermore' to connect your ideas. However, paragraphing and spacing occasionally show mechanical flaws, such as missing spaces after punctuation marks (e.g., 'experience,I would', 'United Kingdom. This'), which makes the visual flow slightly abrupt. There is also some minor repetition in referencing. Overall, the logical organization is clear throughout, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'analytical skills', 'attention to detail', 'practical as well as theoretical knowledge', and 'beneficial'. However, there are some word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as writing 'in study out of country' instead of 'studying abroad', and 'complete course from University of kent' instead of 'completed my degree at the University of Kent'. Spelling and word-choice errors do not impede communication, but they prevent you from reaching a higher band. This corresponds to the criteria for Band 6, where the vocabulary is adequate but contains noticeable errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You used a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, successfully incorporating clauses such as 'because I don't feel any diffulty in my theseis and passed my defence easily'. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout your response. These include missing spaces after commas and periods, incorrect article usage ('the United Kingdom'), verb tense inconsistencies ('everyone should have to follow these'), and spelling errors ('diffulty', 'theseis'). While these errors do not impede communication and your meaning remains clear, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. This sits comfortably within the Band 6 descriptor.
