Student answer (Band 8.0)

Dear Mina,

I hope you are doing well. I am glad to hear that you are considering spending a year studying abroad. Since I recently had a similar experience, I would be happy to share some details with you.

I spent my year abroad studying Computer Engineering at Trent University in Canada. The experience was very different from studying in my hometown, as the university provided a more practical and industry-focused learning environment. During my stay, I learned not only about advanced computer-related subjects but also about Canadian culture and lifestyle. I met people from different cultural backgrounds and learned how to communicate and work effectively with them. I also became more independent because I had to manage my studies, daily responsibilities and finances on my own.

The year abroad was particularly helpful for my studies because I had several opportunities to work on practical projects and participate in coding challenges. I also interacted with professionals from the technology industry, which helped me understand how the knowledge I gained in class could be applied to real-world problems. These experiences improved my technical and communication skills and gave me a clearer idea of my future career.

I hope this information helps you make your decision. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

Kind regards,

Sam
