Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Shivani,
I hope you are doing great. I recently heard that you're planning to spend year studying in abroad and wants some suggestions. I would love to share my experience with you.
I've done my study from Seneca University in Toronto which is great in all the courses. I have done Business Marketing in which I learnt about how market works and anticipates the profit and loses of the market.
Moreover, I haven't only learnt about the business but about the culture of the country as well. In Toronto people are very helpful and kind. One of my friend taught me about the history of Canada in which I learnt how people lived in their early ages afterwards which was very useful in my third semester.
Furthermore, after I finished my studies my college offered me an internship in which I got a job in a multinational company which offers me to work in different companies of the world.
I hope you'd like my suggestions if you need further more inquiries you can reach at me.
Yours lovingly,
Arshveer

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You successfully addressed all parts of the prompt by identifying your study location as Seneca University in Toronto, describing what you learned about the country, and explaining how the year abroad helped your studies. However, some ideas were developed unevenly. For instance, the explanation of how the year abroad was helpful for your studies is a bit repetitive and lacks specific detail, particularly when you mention that a history lesson was useful in your third semester without elaborating on how. To reach the next level, you should extend and support all your main points with deeper explanations and more comprehensive examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter has a coherent overall arrangement and follows an appropriate informal letter format with a suitable greeting and sign-off. You made reasonable attempts to use cohesive devices to connect your ideas, such as "Moreover", "Furthermore", and "afterwards". However, the connection between sentences is at times slightly mechanical or repetitive in structure. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun reference in "afterwards which was very useful". To improve, you need to ensure that progression between paragraphs flows more naturally and that cohesive devices are used with greater flexibility and precision.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like "multinational company", "internship", and "culture". However, there are some noticeable vocabulary and phrasing errors, such as "spend year studying in abroad" (which contains preposition and article issues), "wants some suggestions", and "anticipates the profit and loses" (where "loses" is a spelling error for "losses"). You attempted less common lexical items, but occasional word choice inaccuracies meant the range felt restricted. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on precise word choices, correct collocations, and careful proofreading to eliminate spelling slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating that you can construct multi-clause sentences such as "Toronto University in Toronto which is great in all the courses". There are some errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including tense shifts and agreement issues like "I've done my study" instead of "I studied", and missing articles. Fortunately, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. To progress further, you need to increase your control over complex structures and produce a higher proportion of error-free sentences.
