Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Savita,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. I am writing to share my experience while studying abroad. It was a wonderful ocassion for me to learn something new in my life.
For your information, I got a chance to complete my M.B.A from The Toronto University of Canada. I was able to complete this course sucessfully two months ago. So I would say that this was a greater opportunity for me to interact with the people of different cultures and areas. Additionallly, a year studing abroad also helped me to improve my english speaking skills, as in this city usually people like to converse in English at everywhere. Moreover, this stay was beneficial to broaden my perspective and make me more confident and independent to dealing with the daily life problems more efficiently.
This year was also helpful for my studies, as I got a chance to spend a valuable time will the world famous professors. Consequently, it brought a significanty change in my personality. Addiditionally, Now I can handle any project at workplace with the guidance of any expertise, as they provided me a hands on experience during my internship. I hope you will also enjoy this time and will able to enhance your skills while studying in international universities.
Best Regards,
Neeraj

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you identify Toronto as your study destination, mention learning about different cultures and using English, and explain that professors and an internship supported your studies. The letter is relevant and appropriately directed to Savita. However, some parts are more fully covered than others. The country-learning point is mostly general: “people of different cultures and areas” and the use of English do not give a clear example of what you discovered about Canada. The academic benefit is also somewhat unclear when you say the experience changed your personality, rather than explaining how it helped your university learning. Add one or two specific observations about Canadian life and a concrete link to your course.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The ideas are arranged in a generally coherent order, moving from your destination and experience to the benefits for your studies, and the closing encouragement suits the letter. Paragraphing helps separate the main topics. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Consequently,” although some transitions feel mechanical or do not show a precise relationship between ideas. For example, “Consequently” introduces a personality change without clearly explaining how it follows from the professors’ support. The long middle paragraph also combines several different points, including language, confidence, and independence. Group related ideas more clearly and use transitions that express the exact connection between them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for a personal letter, including “broaden my perspective,” “confident and independent,” and “hands on experience.” These choices help communicate your experience, and the meaning is generally clear. However, several spelling errors and unnatural collocations reduce precision, such as “ocassion,” “sucessfully,” and “a valuable time will the world famous professors.” Some phrases are also vague or awkward, including “a greater opportunity” and “people of different cultures and areas.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural combinations of words; specific vocabulary about Canadian culture and your academic subject would also make the account more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “as” and “while,” and most of the message remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, particularly in verb patterns, articles, and prepositions. For example, “confident and independent to dealing” should use a different construction, and “will able to enhance” needs an auxiliary verb. “At everywhere” is also not a correct prepositional phrase, while “spend a valuable time” uses the article awkwardly. Capitalisation is inconsistent in “Additionally, Now.” Review verb patterns after adjectives and modal expressions, and check articles and prepositions when editing. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the letter.
