Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sara,
I hope you are doing well. I would love to share my previous experience in Canada.
As you know, I went to canada to complete my Master reserch on behalf of my college. I gained practical knowledge at Antario university under the supervision of skilled and expert reseacher. Moreover, was wonderful experience because it provide to observe and treat kids with special need in real time.
Furthermore, canada is bilingual and biodiverse country. It gave me the chance to learn its culture and meet people of different countries. It has great reputation on education system and has strong links with NHS. It helps me both professionally and personally.
Additionally, this experience was very helpful. When I came back I got a lot of job opportunities from well known reserach centers. I took some steps regarding assessment of special children in health care system and modified them. Now, my next aim is to transfer the insight knowledge to young physiotherapists.
I hope you find this information useful. I feel very poud that you are going to abroad on scholarship.
Yours Sincerely,
ume ammara

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points clearly: you identify Canada and Antario University, describe its bilingual and biodiverse character and the opportunity to meet people from different countries, and explain how the experience supported your career and work with young physiotherapists. The examples about observing and treating children with special needs and receiving job opportunities make the account relevant and personal. This is a strong response to the purpose of the letter. Some details are still general, however: you could explain more specifically what you learnt about Canadian culture or how the experience improved your university studies, rather than focusing mainly on later employment. A little more development of those points would make the account more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall progression: you introduce your experience, describe your study and impressions of Canada, explain its benefits, and close with a message to Sara. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “Additionally” make relationships between ideas visible. This gives the response a coherent structure. However, the repeated use of formal transition words can feel mechanical, and some links between sentences are not fully clear—for example, “It helps me both professionally and personally” follows several possible references. Use pronouns with clearer antecedents and vary transitions by connecting ideas more naturally. The closing is appropriate, though the sign-off and name could be presented more consistently as a personal letter.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “practical knowledge,” “supervision,” “special need,” “bilingual,” and “job opportunities,” so the reader can understand your experience and its benefits. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “assessment” and “health care system.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word combinations are noticeable, including “reserach,” “reseacher,” “poud,” “on behalf of my college,” and “insight knowledge.” Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “strong links with NHS,” which does not clearly explain the connection. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases. More precise wording would help you express your ideas naturally and reduce moments of reader uncertainty.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple and more developed sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “when,” and “that,” and most of the message remains understandable. There are, however, recurring errors in verb forms, sentence construction, and articles. For example, “Moreover, was wonderful experience” lacks a clear subject and article, while “it provide to observe” has an incorrect verb pattern. “When I came back I got” also needs punctuation after the introductory clause, and “Canada is bilingual and biodiverse country” requires an article before “country.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is usually recoverable. Practise accurate clause construction and review subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
