Dear........,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Jahnvi,

I hope you are doing well. I received your mail yesterday and I am happy to share my experience with you. So, I went to University of Windsor which is in Ontario province of Canada. I was admitted in Master's of Mechanical Engineering course where I studied various subjects.

Honestly, the teaching style abroad is different from our country as it is more focused on providing practical knowledge rather than focusing on theoritical lessons only. Here, I got hands on experience on various operations and methods of production which aligned with my subjects.

Additionally, In my class there were students from different nations which helped me to learn new styles and methodology whereas I also shared my knowledge with them.

Living in Canada tought me to become self dependent. Citizens highly value their culture and heritage. People of all communities stay together peacefully making it a good exmaple for the society.

Thus, my one year in Canada not only made me academically strong but also helped me to build good connections with people from over the world. Hence, I would recommend you take this course enjoy all experiences it has to offer.

Yours sincerely,

Rudresh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three requested points: you identify the University of Windsor in Ontario, describe learning about practical teaching and Canada’s cultural diversity, and explain that the experience strengthened your studies and helped you build connections. The details about hands-on production experience and learning from international classmates support the academic benefit clearly. Your account of the country is relevant, though claims such as “People of all communities stay together peacefully” are broad and would be stronger with a specific observation or example. The recommendation at the end also gives the letter a clear purpose and friendly tone. To develop the response further, explain more precisely how the practical experience connected to your mechanical-engineering studies.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The ideas are arranged in a generally clear sequence: you introduce the study location, discuss teaching and classmates, describe life in Canada, and conclude with the benefits and a recommendation. Paragraphing helps distinguish these topics, and links such as “Additionally” and “Thus” make the progression easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation of an overall coherent arrangement, while some features of stronger cohesion are present. However, “Here” is not fully clear because the letter has shifted between discussing Canada and the university, and “Thus” makes the final conclusion sound slightly mechanical. Use more precise references and vary transitions so that the links between the country experience and academic benefits feel more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for a personal letter, including relevant expressions such as “hands on experience,” “methods of production,” “culture and heritage,” and “build good connections.” These help communicate both academic and personal outcomes. There are also attempts at more specific vocabulary, although some choices are inaccurate or awkward: “theoritical” is misspelled, “methodology” is not the most natural choice for learning styles, and “take this course enjoy all experiences” is unclear. “Self dependent” would be more naturally expressed as “independent.” These issues do not prevent understanding, but more accurate collocations and careful spelling would make the language more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response includes a mix of simple and complex forms, such as “Living in Canada taught me to become…” and the clause beginning “which helped me to learn…”. Most sentences communicate their meaning, and the reader can follow the account without difficulty. Some grammatical errors remain. For example, “I was admitted in Master's of Mechanical Engineering course” needs a more accurate article and preposition, while “I recommend you take this course enjoy…” lacks a grammatical link between the two actions. Capitalisation is inconsistent in “Additionally, In my class,” and the final sentence would benefit from clearer punctuation. Aim to check articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
