Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify Vancouver, Canada, and explain that you lived in Surrey because of high living costs, so the location is addressed. You also mention adapting to unfamiliar circumstances, budgeting, sharing accommodation and working part-time, which gives the reader some insight into your experience. However, the task asks what you learnt about the country, and most of these points describe practical challenges rather than Canadian culture or society. The benefit to your studies is also only briefly stated through getting good grades and gaining experience; explain more specifically how studying abroad improved your academic knowledge or skills. The letter is relevant overall, but these ideas remain limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable letter structure, moving from an opening to details about your experience and then a friendly closing. The ideas are grouped into paragraphs, and phrases such as “Initially” and “As you know” attempt to guide the reader. However, the progression is not always clear: the paragraph about managing responsibilities shifts quickly from adapting to budgeting, shared living and part-time work, while the later paragraph moves between general advice, grades, employment and future business plans. Some links are also awkward or unclear, such as “It will teach you new things” after describing your experience. Organise the content around the three requested points and use clearer transitions between them.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “living expenses,” “budget,” “part-time job” and “new circumstances,” so the reader can understand the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning difficult to follow. For example, “family bonding” does not clearly express the difficulty of living away from family, and “expand a great business” is an unnatural way to describe a future plan. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “writting,” “expences,” “appericiate” and “ameneties.” Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully; this will make your account clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the overall message is usually understandable. However, the range of structures is limited, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction sometimes make the reader work to interpret your meaning. For example, “i was studied MBA” should use a correct past-tense construction, while “Manage ourself under new circumstances is foremost thing” needs a clear subject and appropriate verb form. In “My creative ideas with personal experience helps,” the subject and verb do not agree. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and run-on phrasing. Practise building accurate sentences first, then combine related ideas using clauses.
