Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Raman,
I hope that you are doing well.
I'm writing this letter to share my experiemce of studying at Kwantlen Polytechnic university since last two years.
In Canada, I has been completed my criminlogy degree in Kpu Universty.I recently has been obtained my degree. This university is located in main Surrey.
If I talk about studying method in this country is totally distinct as compared to our nations. As there overall grades come through overall performance of class but our nations grades come by final examinations.InCanada, cheating and copying someone idea is not allowed by the professor.
My experience was very best at there becausemy cousin isvery helpful. She introduced all amenities of university by giving tour of university before starting my classes.Apart form this, University also provides free tutor services for all learners which can provides prior feedback on our assignment and projects.
I hope that my experience and suggestions will be useful for you.If you have any other concern please let me know.I am always here for helping you either in study or work.
Take care.
Your lovingly,
Kuldeep

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You include the three requested topics: you identify Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey, describe differences in assessment and attitudes to cheating, and mention tutor support as helpful for assignments. However, the response only partly fulfils the purpose of explaining your own year abroad. The opening says you have studied there for two years and completed a degree, which does not clearly establish that this was a year abroad. The country-learning point is also narrow, and the final explanation focuses more on your cousin and university services than on how the experience improved your studies. Develop each point with specific examples and make the connection to your academic progress explicit. A more natural closing would also strengthen the letter’s communicative purpose.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable sequence: an opening, information about the university, observations about studying in Canada, and a closing. Paragraph breaks help separate these topics, and phrases such as “If I talk about” and “Apart from this” signal transitions. However, progression is sometimes difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded together, particularly the university details and the account of support. Some linking phrases are awkward or repetitive, and “there” and “our nations” do not make the references fully clear. Organise the body into distinct paragraphs for location, cultural or academic learning, and benefits to your studies. Use simpler, more precise links between ideas so the reader can follow the explanation without having to infer connections.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “overall performance,” “final examinations,” “professor,” “tutor services,” and “feedback.” These choices help communicate your observations about university life. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the message less clear. For example, “studying method” is not the natural phrase for assessment practices, and “my experience was very best” is awkward. There are also noticeable spelling and spacing errors, including “experiemce,” “Universty,” and “InCanada,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for precise expressions such as “assessment methods” and “academic support,” and check spelling and word forms carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a comparison between grading systems and a sentence explaining the tutor service. This shows some effort to connect ideas rather than relying entirely on short statements. However, errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction, and some make the meaning harder to process. Examples include “I has been completed,” “I recently has been obtained,” and “which can provides.” The opening sentence about studying “since last two years” also needs a more accurate tense and time expression. Practise forming present perfect and past-tense sentences, and check subject–verb agreement. Breaking longer sentences into clear, complete clauses will also improve control and readability.
