Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Jennifer,
It was great to hear from you ! I'm glad that you reached out for some advice regarding studying overseas for University course.
First of all, I studied in one of the reputed Univeristy in Lower Mainland region of British Columbia. It's not far from my accomodation. So, there are many convinent options such as sky train, transit bus to reach to the University.
Well, study in Canada not only polish my skills in academic career but also give me exposure of the multi-cultural heritage. People all over the World come to Canada and admire its exceptional beauty. Moreover,I realized the importance of things that I considered unnecessary in my home country like making schedule of the day, follow time tables.
Another thing worth considering is that decision of a year in the abroad University is particularly essential to enhance my education on Biology subject as well as internship in the healthcare sectors that will result in building strong career path in the special field. Definitely, if you follows same path, it will make things much easier for you in the time of getting job.
I hope my suggestions helps you andsurely you will make a right decision.
Best wishes,
Raj

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you identify your study location in British Columbia, describe Canada’s multicultural character and the personal value of planning, and explain how the experience supported your Biology studies and career plans. The advice is relevant and the friendly closing suits the purpose. However, the location remains vague because you name neither the university nor a specific city, and the description of what you learnt about Canada is brief. The academic benefit is clearer, but the link between studying abroad and improving your Biology knowledge or gaining healthcare experience could be explained with a concrete example. The response covers the task well overall, but fuller development and more specific details would make it more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall shape, with an opening, separate paragraphs for the experience and its benefits, and an appropriate sign-off. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Well,” and “Another thing worth considering” help the reader follow the main points. Some connections are less smooth, however: the transport details interrupt the explanation of where you studied, and “Another thing” introduces the academic benefit without clearly linking it to the earlier description of your experience. The final sentence also runs together (“and surely”), weakening the closing. Use paragraphing to group each task point more tightly and choose transitions that show the relationship between ideas, rather than relying mainly on formulaic signposts.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a personal letter, including relevant expressions such as “multi-cultural heritage,” “exposure,” and “career path.” These attempts to use more specific vocabulary show some flexibility, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “reputed University,” “polish my skills,” “making schedule of the day,” and “a year in the abroad University.” There are also spelling errors such as “Univeristy,” “accomodation,” and “convinent,” which reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim for natural combinations and check spelling carefully; precise, familiar wording is more effective than an ambitious phrase used incorrectly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the sentence beginning “People all over the World come to Canada” and the longer explanation of how the year abroad could support your career. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “study in Canada … polish … give” needs consistent tense and agreement (“studying … polished … gave”), while “if you follows” should be “if you follow.” Articles and sentence construction also need attention in “for University course” and “It's not far from my accomodation. So, there are…”. Punctuation is inconsistent, with spaces before exclamation marks and a missing space after “Moreover,”. More accurate verb forms and sentence boundaries would strengthen control.
