Student answer (Band 5.0)

Dear Aanchal,

I hope you are doing well and fine. I recieved your letter about your concerns about studying abroad.

As you asked about experince. so,I spent about an year completing diploma recently in business general in niagara college Toronto .

Although, it was a quite good one but also a challenging in term of managing on our own so be prepared about that . Because i also haven't been to diffrent country like you now. Don't worry about that the people are so helpful here as most of them are immigrants from distinct places around the world .

furthermore, the time i spent lerning here was very helpful to me. It helped me build a good communication skills as well as I learned few other languages to make this more profitable in social way. Nowadays, I am working in multinational company which have individuals from every part of world and I had no problem at all in adapting them as i have been through this before.

I hope this will help you in making your living helpful. keep me in loop so i can help more. I pray for your well being.

Your lovingly

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the letter to Aanchal and include relevant information about studying at Niagara College in Toronto, the helpfulness of local people, and how the experience supported your communication and later work. However, the task is only partially fulfilled: the place of study is mentioned, but the description of what you learnt about the country remains general, focusing mainly on immigrants and helpful people rather than specific cultural or practical discoveries. The academic benefit is also not clearly explained; communication skills and workplace adaptation are useful outcomes, but you do not show how the year helped with your university studies. Develop these points with concrete examples and make the connection to her course explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter has a recognisable opening, body and closing, and the ideas are grouped into paragraphs. The sequence from your experience to its benefits is generally understandable. However, progression is uneven: the second paragraph moves from managing independently to your lack of travel experience and then to the helpfulness of residents, without clearly linking these points. Connectors such as “Although” and “furthermore” are used, but some transitions feel mechanical or do not express the relationship accurately. The closing also shifts quickly from advice to asking her to keep you informed. Use clearer topic sentences and link each paragraph directly to one of the requested points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “studying abroad,” “immigrants,” “communication skills” and “multinational company.” There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as adapting to an international workplace. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts less clear, for example “experince,” “lerning,” “diffrent,” and “in term of managing on our own.” Some phrases are unnatural or imprecise, including “business general” and “making your living helpful.” Choose more natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary for cultural discoveries and academic development would also help you explain the task points effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including the clause beginning “Although” and the sentence explaining how the experience helped you adapt at work. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “Although, it was a quite good one but also a challenging” has an incomplete structure, while “I learned few other languages” is missing an article and “company which have individuals” has an agreement error. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “As you asked about experince. so,I spent…” These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Practise complete clause structures, subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation.
