Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Neha,
I Hope you are doing great.I found your letter in which you mentioned that you are thinking about to pursue your further study in abroad. As, I have recently completed my Graduation in Child Care at Cambridge University of Japan and my experience is incredible there.
I have learnt number of things in Japan. This country is 50 years advanced than our country. Most of the things are automatic there. I have learnt time management tricks , also learnt advanced techniques about internet and this country helps me to set and follow my daily routine .
The atmosphere of University is highly professional. The behaviour of all the professors are friendly with students so that if student have any problem in any concept, they can discuss with their teacher without any hesitation. Apart from this, the equipments use in the classrooms are stunning. They teach how to tackle the students with proper care and also perform every steps practically in front of students. so, it was an hand - on experience, which is praised by all other countries.
I will highly appreciate you if you could make your plan to study in japan successfull.I hope this information will highly valuable and beneficial for you. All the very best for your journey.
Warm Wishes,
Max

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you identify Japan as the country and Cambridge University as the place of study, describe aspects of life there, and explain how the experience supported your learning. The details about professional teaching, practical demonstrations and discussing problems with professors are relevant, but the link to your own university studies could be made more explicit. For example, explain how the practical teaching methods or improved time management helped you with particular coursework. Some claims, such as Japan being “50 years advanced,” are broad and would be more convincing with a specific example. Overall, the letter fulfils its purpose, though some points are less fully developed than others. Add a clearer, personal explanation of the academic benefits and keep the tone consistently natural for a friendly letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure: an opening, paragraphs about Japan and the university experience, and a closing with good wishes. This gives the reader a coherent overall arrangement. However, the progression between ideas is sometimes abrupt. The paragraph beginning “I have learnt number of things” moves from technology to time management and then daily routine without showing how these points connect. Linking phrases such as “In addition” or “As a result” could clarify those relationships. Some connections are also mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “also” and “Apart from this.” Paragraphing is generally helpful, but the academic benefit would be clearer if it had its own focused explanation. Check that references such as “this country” and “there” always point clearly to Japan.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of vocabulary relevant to studying abroad, including “time management,” “professional,” “techniques,” and “practically,” and the reader can understand your main points. There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “hand-on experience” and “incredible.” However, several word choices or combinations are unnatural or imprecise: “50 years advanced,” “further study in abroad,” and “the equipments … are stunning.” Spelling and word-form slips such as “successfull” and “hand - on” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and precise examples rather than broad claims. For instance, describe a specific technology or teaching method, and use vocabulary that clearly explains how it benefited your studies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional in “I will highly appreciate you if you could make your plan,” and clauses explaining how students can discuss problems with teachers. However, some sentence structures and grammatical forms are inaccurate, which makes parts of the letter less smooth. Examples include “thinking about to pursue,” “I have learnt number of things,” and “the behaviour of all the professors are,” where the verb pattern, article use or subject–verb agreement needs attention. The opening also joins sentences without appropriate spacing or punctuation: “doing great.I found.” Review articles, agreement, verb patterns and sentence boundaries, then proofread for punctuation. More consistently accurate sentences would make your varied structures easier to follow.
