Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the main points by naming Canada, mentioning Niagara, describing helpful professors and learning about sales, and explaining that you gained sales experience. These details make the letter relevant, but the task is only partially covered: it is not clear what you learnt about the country itself, beyond calling it beautiful and noting that many different people study there. The benefit to your university studies is also vague; “This journey had taught me a lot about my study” does not explain what improved or how it helped your course. Develop each point with specific examples, and make the duration consistent: you refer to a year abroad in the prompt, but write “two year” in your letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic letter shape, with an opening, three paragraphs signalled by “Secondly” and “Lastly,” and a closing. The reader can identify the broad topics—location, learning and study benefits—but progression is not always clear. The first paragraph moves from Canada to the college, Niagara and a “fall area” without explaining how these details connect. The second paragraph combines sales planning, professors and knowledge of the country, while the final paragraph repeats the idea of learning and experience. Some linking words are mechanical or awkwardly placed. Group related details together, use clear topic sentences, and connect each example directly to the relevant task point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small range of relevant vocabulary, including “tourist attraction,” “sales plan,” “enhance my skills” and “enormous knowledge.” These phrases show an attempt to describe both the place and your academic experience. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which can make the message difficult to follow. For example, “my study from Canada” and “an amazing” do not express your meaning naturally, while “fall area, Attraction point” is unclear. There are also spelling errors such as “experinced,” “beautyful” and “tought.” Choose precise phrases such as “studied at a college near Niagara Falls” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using clauses, as in “as I have learned a lot,” and use past-tense forms to describe your experience. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and frequent errors in sentence formation and verb forms sometimes make the meaning hard to interpret. Examples include “During my journey of two year in this town, Had learned” and “while in this short journey, had given me,” where the subject is missing and the verb construction is incomplete. Tense use also shifts between “was,” “are studying” and “have learned” without a clear reason. Practise complete subject–verb sentences, consistent past-tense narration, and accurate punctuation between clauses.
