Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Priyanka,

I hope you doing well and shared my experience in studying abroad as part of your university course. I know you want to gain the same experience that I got at university in Canada.

I completed my graduation from Algoma University in Brampton in the computer science program and also did a part-time job in a restaurant as a cashier to full-fill my needs.

I learnt a lot not only about my study but also in about country occasionas like how we become indenpendent, manage both study and college. Also, How we enroll in college classes and cleared exam preparation.

Furthermore, year abroad is helpful for my studies beacuse I was knee interested in this field to get new experience in coading language, suach pythoan, java, C++, and others coading language, to get intership in well-known companies.

I hope to hear from you soon and also it is helpfull for your studies.

Best Wishes,

Anu gill.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address all three requested points: you identify Algoma University in Canada, mention learning about independence and managing study, and explain that the experience helped you develop computer-programming skills and seek an internship. These details keep the letter relevant. However, some points are only partly clear or developed. The location is given as “Brampton,” but the country-learning section shifts between cultural learning and college procedures without explaining what you discovered about Canada itself. The benefit to your studies is also compressed into one sentence. To strengthen the response, describe one or two specific aspects of Canadian life and explain more clearly how studying there improved your academic knowledge or skills. The friendly opening and closing suit the purpose of the letter.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter has a recognisable structure, with an opening, separate paragraphs for your experience and learning, and a closing. Connectors such as “Also” and “Furthermore” help signal additions, and the reader can generally follow the main topics. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the second paragraph combines graduation, the university programme, and a part-time job, while the next moves quickly from independence to class enrolment and exam preparation. Some links are unclear, particularly “I hope you doing well and shared my experience,” which does not establish the intended relationship between the ideas. Organise each paragraph around one task point and use clearer transitions and references so the letter develops smoothly rather than reading as a list of details.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “part-time job,” “independent,” “exam preparation,” “program,” and “internship.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both study and life abroad. However, the range is limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “occasionas,” “indenpendent,” “full-fill,” and “coading language.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “knee interested in this field” and “in about country.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully, especially for key academic terms. More precise expressions for cultural learning and academic benefits would help you communicate your ideas with less effort from the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, for example, “I learnt a lot not only about my study but also…” and the sentence beginning “Furthermore.” This gives the letter some variety, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “I hope you doing well,” which needs a finite verb, and “year abroad is helpful for my studies,” where the article and tense do not fit the past experience. The sentence beginning “I completed my graduation” also has an unclear grammatical relationship between the degree, programme, and job. Practise accurate verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries, and build longer sentences from clearly connected clauses.
