Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sara,

I am glad to hear that you asked for my advice for getting my experience studying abroad.

Regarding my studies,I opt a Business management course in college that was in Toronto under GTA area. One main reason behind studying out of country was to learn more pratically rather than just focusing on theoratical.

Studing in Canada was incredible experinece throughout a year.I learnt a lot about country's rich culture, customs ,and traditions during festive seasons.I can definately say,I boosted up my confidence while talking to engish speaking friends of mine.

I'd say my whole journey of a year was full of fun and profound knowlegdble .I focused on my studies while woking as an voulnteer in an Interntaionak company top learn about business skills, which helped me to implement my theortical skills practically.

Best of luck for your studies.let me know what you plans.

Best Wishes,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you identify Toronto as your study location, mention learning about Canadian culture and traditions, and explain that the year helped you apply theoretical business knowledge in practice. These are relevant details, and the friendly closing suits the letter. However, some points are only briefly developed: for example, you do not explain what you learned about Canadian customs through a particular experience, and the link between volunteering and your university studies could be clearer. The response is also three words below the required minimum. Add a little more specific detail about your experience and how it supported your course.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it opens with a friendly greeting, moves through your studies and experience in Canada, and ends with good wishes. Paragraphing helps distinguish the main ideas, and phrases such as “Regarding my studies” and “I’d say” guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, the progression within the middle paragraphs is occasionally abrupt: the reason for studying abroad, cultural learning, confidence, and volunteering are introduced without much explanation of how they connect. Develop these links, and use punctuation consistently after introductory phrases to make the flow smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for describing study and experience, including “rich culture,” “customs,” “traditions,” “confidence,” and “implement … practically.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable, as in “pratically,” “theoratical,” “knowlegdble,” and “voulnteer.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “boosted up my confidence” and “profound knowlegdble.” These errors reduce precision, even though the overall message remains understandable. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, such as “gain confidence” and “apply theoretical knowledge in practice.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the explanation beginning “One main reason…” and the sentence linking your studies with volunteering. The main message is generally clear, and the reader can follow your account. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “I opt a Business management course” needs a past-tense verb and a suitable preposition, while “as an volunteer” has an article-agreement error. The sentence beginning “I focused on my studies while…” is also difficult to follow because its clauses are not clearly connected. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and review articles and sentence boundaries.
