Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Rashita,
Hello, how are you? I hope you and your family will be fine. I'm excited to share my experience with you and your young sister, who is planning to go abroad to finish her university course.
As you know, I came back from Germany last month after finishing my studies. I studied digital marketing at one of the best universities. It included in-person training that will help me to find a good job in future.
Germany is a multicultural country, so many international students go to study there and fulfill their dreams. From this country, I learned how people can respect each other and give a fair chance to everyone. Along with this, I learned new methods of study, showing how students can learn without academic pressure.
Going abroad to complete my course is one of the best decisions in my life. The things I did not learn in my country I learned there.
Yours lovingly
Manisha

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The letter covers the three requested points: you identify Germany as the destination, mention learning about respect and fairness, and say the experience helped your studies. The first two points are reasonably clear, especially the observation that students can learn “without academic pressure.” However, the final point is under-developed: “The things I did not learn in my country I learned there” does not explain specifically how the year abroad supported your university studies. The opening also refers to your friend’s sister as “your young sister,” which makes the intended recipient less clear, and the letter could address her directly throughout. Add a concrete academic example, such as a new marketing skill or practical project, to make the purpose and benefit more fully explained.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, a paragraph about your studies in Germany, one about the country, and a closing explanation of the benefit. This makes the main ideas easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “Along with this” help connect related points, and the letter format is recognisable. Some connections are nevertheless mechanical or unclear. For example, “From this country, I learned” is an awkward transition, while “The things I did not learn in my country I learned there” repeats the contrast without specifying the connection to your studies. The opening shifts between addressing Rashita and discussing “your young sister.” Keep the recipient consistent and use clearer links between the experience and its academic value.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “digital marketing,” “multicultural,” “international students,” and “academic pressure.” These choices show some range beyond basic everyday language. However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural for this context: “finish her university course” and “complete my course” are less suitable for describing a year abroad as part of a degree, while “give a fair chance to everyone” is a broad description of what you learned. “One of the best universities” is also general rather than informative. Aim for more precise collocations and vocabulary connected to your studies, such as practical marketing skills, coursework, or cross-cultural communication. This would make the message more specific and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple sentences and more developed structures, including the relative clause in “a country, so many international students go to study there” and the clause beginning “showing how students can learn.” Most sentences are understandable, and grammatical errors do not prevent the reader from following your account. Some sentence structures and tense choices could be more controlled. In “It included in-person training that will help me,” the past description shifts to “will help”; a consistent past or present-perfect framing would be clearer. The sentence “The things I did not learn in my country I learned there” also has an awkward structure and would benefit from a clearer clause pattern. Continue practising varied sentence forms while checking tense consistency and punctuation in the closing.
