Student answer (Band 5.0)

Dear Radhika,

I am happy that you have asked me about my feedback on my project managment cource which i have complected last year in Boston, few days ago rohit call me and he was asking about some information related that course and also tell me that you are going to persue it ending of this year.As you know that the course is in Durham college and the campus is in Boston the city quit good and people are friendly.

Secondly, what i have learn about the country is that respect every culture and follow your own path with enthausism, like if you want to learn something than you have to keep hunger inside you and that what i see in this people.Apart from this, the think which i noticed in myself is that while learning in different are will empower you test you and give you ability to grow and stand on your own feet. that's what i have learn here and if you need any help further than feel free to reach me.

your Sciencirely,

Patel Maharshi.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You make a relevant attempt to respond to the letter task and identify Boston as the place where you studied. You also offer a general observation about the people and culture, and suggest that studying abroad helped you become more independent. However, the three required points are not all clearly addressed: the course and college details take up much of the opening, while what you learned about the country remains vague (“respect every culture and follow your own path”), and the benefit to your studies is not explained specifically. The response therefore addresses the task only partially, with ideas that are limited and under-developed. To improve, describe one concrete cultural discovery and explain how the experience supported your university subject or academic skills.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: you begin with the reason for writing, move to observations about the country, and finish with an offer of help. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear. The opening sentence combines your feedback, your friend’s call, the course, and its location, making the main point difficult to follow. “Secondly” does not clearly connect to a first point, and “Apart from this” introduces an idea that is not clearly separated from the previous one. Paragraphing would help distinguish where you studied, what you learned, and how the year helped your studies. Use linking expressions only when their relationship is clear, and make references such as “that course” and “this people” precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “course,” “culture,” “empower,” and “stand on your own feet.” These choices show an attempt to express ideas beyond very basic information. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the letter harder to understand, such as “project managment cource,” “complected,” and “enthausism.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, including “keep hunger inside you” and “learning in different are.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise language about academic benefits—for example, developing research skills or gaining subject knowledge—would also help you communicate the required ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect several ideas in longer sentences, but these structures are often difficult to follow because of frequent errors. For example, “what i have learn about the country is that respect every culture” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “the think which i noticed in myself is that while learning in different are will empower you” has problems with clause construction and agreement. Verb forms are also inconsistent, as in “what i have learn” and “Rohit call me.” Capitalisation and punctuation need attention, particularly the lowercase “i” and the long opening sentence joined with commas. Practise building clear sentences with one main idea, then add subordinate clauses only when you can control their grammar.
