Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sandeep,
I hope you are in the pink of health! Yesterday morning, I met aunty in the park while jogging, she told me that Sukhman's university has sponsored students' to study overseas. I am so thrilled to hear about her.
During my university day's, I was also sent to NASA which is in USA , for research and to obtain practical knowledge of space, chance to meet professional scientist as a part of our project in the final semester. Also, there was no additional fees apart from our tickets and VISA to US , making it affordable for learners.
The United States of America is known for its rich mix of global culture, constitutional history and vast geographical area. Furthermore, NASA is famous globally for it's exploring space missions, scientific discovery and generating major technological advancements.
It was a successful year for our academics as it was really beneficial for making our theoretical knowledge into a practical, real-based events. Finally, it helped us in our future by making the subjects more easier, engaging, enhancing our knowledge and a chance to explore the world with new adventures.
I'd highly recommend you to allow your younger sibling, a chance to explore and rejuvenate. Pass my greetings to uncle and aunt.
Best regards,
Kiran

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The letter covers the three requested points: it identifies NASA in the United States as the study location, mentions learning about American culture, history and geography, and explains that practical experience helped connect theory with application. These details make the response relevant and the recommendation gives it a suitable personal purpose. However, the account of what you learnt about the country is mostly a list of broad facts, and the academic benefit is expressed in general terms rather than through a specific example. The opening also shifts attention to your friend’s family and the sponsorship news before establishing the experience. Develop one or two concrete observations and explain precisely how they supported your course to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, paragraphs about the placement and the country, an explanation of academic benefits, and a closing. Sequencing words such as “Furthermore” and “Finally” help signal progression, and the sign-off is appropriate. Some connections are less smooth, however. The opening sentence joins two complete ideas with a comma, while “Also” introduces a detail that does not clearly connect to the research experience. The paragraph about the United States moves from culture and history to NASA without explaining the relationship between these points. Use clearer links between each idea and keep each paragraph focused on one purpose; this would make the progression feel less list-like and the references easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a personal letter and make some attempts at more specific vocabulary, including “constitutional history,” “scientific discovery,” “technological advancements,” and “theoretical knowledge.” The meaning is generally understandable, but several choices or combinations sound unnatural or imprecise, such as “real-based events,” “making the subjects more easier,” and “rejuvenate” for encouraging someone to study abroad. “Professional scientist” is also less natural in this context than a phrase describing the researchers you met. Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than adding formal-sounding expressions, and choose vocabulary that directly describes your experience. This would make the letter more fluent and precise while retaining its friendly tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the explanation beginning “making it affordable” and the sentence about how the year helped your studies. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “Yesterday morning, I met aunty in the park while jogging, she told me” joins two independent clauses with a comma; use a full stop or conjunction. There are also errors in possessives and agreement, as in “university day's” and “students' to study,” and the comparative “more easier” should be formed with only one comparative marker. Review sentence boundaries, apostrophes, and comparative structures, then proofread articles and prepositions. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
