Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address both advantages and disadvantages of family businesses, presenting some relevant ideas such as cost-saving, better communication, and potential personal conflicts. However, the ideas are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting detail. For instance, the example regarding 'Suit designs' in India is vague and lacks context. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum length requirement, containing only 229 words instead of the required 250 words, which places a constraint on the overall development of the task. Because of the under-length penalty and the under-development of supporting arguments, the task achievement is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into four paragraphs, showing a basic attempt at a logical structure with introductory, body, and concluding sections. However, coherence is hindered by frequent mechanical and faulty cohesive devices, such as 'Intially', 'In Concclusion', and abrupt transitions between sentences. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is weak due to repetitive referencing and abrupt shifts in ideas. The progression of ideas is not always clear, and sentences often feel disconnected, which pulls the overall score down to this band level.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, such as 'good money', 'work together', and 'family business'. There are noticeable lexical and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'familiy', 'outsite', 'wroking', 'peole', 'Concclusion', and 'yong'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic topic, the frequent errors and limited range mean the response falls into the lower bands for lexical resource. Less common lexical items are attempted but are either misspelled or used inaccurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and error-prone attempts at complex structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, incorrect verb forms, and missing prepositions, such as 'they do need to hire' instead of 'they do not need to hire', 'personal family problems comes', and 'Which is hold negative impact'. Punctuation and spacing errors are also prevalent throughout the essay. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control of basic sentence patterns.
