Student answer (Band 6.0)

It can be observed in most of the nations that some people prefer to to job in their own family business. I believe that its advantages overlap disadvantages due to the fact that it provides flexible environment as well as better trust and communication can be easily built among kins.

To commence with the disadvantage, working in a family- operated company can sometimes lack the professional skills which are required for the business growth. It is most common that parents handle the responsibilities of that enterprise to their younger child who did not even have proper knowledge about that task. As a consequence, it leads to failure of business.

Shifting towards the advantages of family run business, it allows individuals for adaptable working hours. To explicate, people can maintain balance between work and personal life as working hours are upto the owner as much he or she wants to do work. Moreover, they can spend time with their family even when they are performing their job. For example, a husband and wife running their own cafe are well satisfied from their job because they are spending time with each other. Therefore, family job can be considered best.

Furthermore, another benefit of this trend is that a more trust are built in a family operation. To explain, one can easily share company's accountability among close relatives as there is no fear of sharing that information with outsiders. Aditionally, decisions can also be made quite quickly as it do not include any professional heireracy to follow. Hence, these types of businesses are preferred by many.

In conclusion, althoughbusiness operated by family can limit to process of business expansion yet I think that it is a good choice for encouraging time with family as well as it can be easily trustable.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of family businesses and presents a clear position throughout. The response is extended and supported with relevant explanations and examples, such as the cafe example to illustrate work-life balance. However, some ideas tend to be slightly over-generalized or lack deeper development, placing this response comfortably at Band 6.5 to 7.0. The writer successfully argues that advantages outweigh disadvantages by focusing on trust, communication, and flexibility.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a clear overall progression and logical organisation. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate introduction, disadvantages, advantages, trust factors, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed reasonably well, using transitional markers such as 'To commence with', 'Shifting towards', and 'Furthermore'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes slightly mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'To explain', 'To explicate'), and paragraph transitions occasionally feel forced. Overall, the logical structure meets the criteria for Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common phrases such as 'professional heireracy' (misspelled), 'business expansion', and 'adaptable working hours'. There are some noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'prefer to to job', 'better trust and communication can be easily built among kins' ('kins' is inappropriate here), and 'well satisfied from their job'. Spelling errors like 'Aditionally' and 'heireracy' also occur. These errors do not impede communication, supporting a Band 6.0 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, frequent grammatical errors are present throughout the text, such as missing articles ('lack the professional skills'), tense/agreement issues ('child who did not even have', 'a more trust are built'), and preposition errors ('satisfied from'). Furthermore, structural awkwardness appears in sentences like 'as it do not include'. While communication is rarely impeded, the density of grammatical mistakes prevents the score from reaching Band 6.5.
