Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether family businesses have more advantages than disadvantages. However, the candidate fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, stopping at only 221 words. Furthermore, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive, focusing mainly on spending time with family and children's futures without broader exploration. While a personal position is stated, the arguments remain under-developed and lack sufficient extension or supporting examples. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, aligning with the criteria for Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The organization of the text is hindered by very weak paragraphing and a lack of clear progression. The candidate attempts to use basic cohesive devices such as "first", "seconedly", and "now days", but these are often mechanically applied or inaccurate. Referencing is frequently unclear, with pronouns like "they" and "there" confusingly interchanged (e.g., "when they childern are grown up"). There is no clear overall logical progression between ideas, and the conclusion ("in concolios") is abrupt and poorly integrated. These issues place the response firmly in Band 4.0 for coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
Vocabulary usage is basic, repetitive, and heavily impacted by pervasive spelling errors. Words such as "varies", "paerts", "bussiness", "denifits", and "concolios" demonstrate a very limited control over word formation and spelling. While the candidate attempts some topic-related vocabulary like "generation", "survey", and "advertising", the sheer frequency of lexical errors and non-standard forms significantly strains the reader and impedes understanding, reflecting the descriptors for Band 4.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple and frequently faulty sentence structures. There are constant errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement (e.g., "parests did't worrie"), tense usage, and sentence boundary errors, such as massive run-on sentences and comma splices. Punctuation and capitalization are also largely neglected throughout the text. Because errors are frequent, systematic, and often distort the intended meaning, the writing meets the criteria for Band 4.0.
