Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether family businesses have more advantages than disadvantages, taking a clear position in the introduction ("in my opinion it has more pros than cons"). The writer puts forward relevant ideas, such as financial growth and the introduction of new talent, alongside a counter-argument regarding potential discrimination and work-life balance issues. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and occasionally hampered by unclear expression. For instance, the discussion of the Ambani family provides a concrete example of commercial success, but the sentence structure obscures the argument. Overall, the task is addressed with relevant main ideas, placing the response securely in Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph-by-paragraph structure that separates the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal logical links, such as "moreover", "furthermore", and "overall". However, referencing and mechanical cohesion are sometimes faulty, leading to abrupt transitions and run-on sentences. For example, the sentence starting with "moreover, if family mermber participate..." is overly long and difficult to follow. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion requires better sentence boundary control to achieve a higher score. This performance aligns with Band 5.5, rounded to Band 6 given the clear structural layout.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as "tunover", "compititiveworld", and "discrimatrion". However, there are numerous spelling errors and inaccurate word choices throughout the text (e.g., "mermber", "consiquenlty", "growh", "enticipating" instead of participating, and "interduce"). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the general message, the high frequency of spelling and morphological inaccuracies restricts the score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional structures and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent punctuation and capitalization errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ("globally", "in my opinion"). Furthermore, numerous syntactic errors occur, such as "ambani's have family business started by the father... now its run by the mukesh ambani's and his sonsand daughter" and missing articles or incorrect verb forms ("businessbecome", "they not intrupting theeir business"). These errors frequently cause strain for the reader, placing the grammar performance at Band 5.0.
