Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many businesses employ their family members in some cultures. Many renowned personalities in the world belong to some family business. There are advantages as well as disadvantages of working together as a family.
One of the important advantages is that by employing own family member, it is less likely disclosures of important secrets of the business to the public. This can be particularly when it comes to a business who owns millions of dollars and one of richest people in the world. For example, India's richest family Ambani have all family members work together. Additionally, wealth and legacy stay intact within the family. Indeed there are more benefits of carrying a family name whose name is renowned in the world.
Having a business together also have many disadvantages. It has been seen breakdown of relationships because they were working together. If there are some loses due to someone in the business it is more likely impact on their relationships. As a result, some
families separated personally as well as professionally as business create boundaries. Another drawback of owing a family business is that the next generation is not taking care of the business effectively because they have not seen the struggles behind the success of their family business. Therefore, it is evident in the history of few generations, family wealth vanished because some of the family members were not worthwhile to maintain the legacy of their family business.
To conclude, working together in a family has some advantages and disadvantages. Family name and wealth take time to earn the reputations in the society and it can be gone if not taken care effectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of family businesses, presenting a clear overall stance. Ideas are supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of India's Ambani family to illustrate the security and legacy benefits. However, some arguments remain slightly under-developed, and the explanation tends to over-generalize at times, particularly in the discussion of wealth vanishing over generations. Despite these minor limitations, the main aspects of the task are adequately covered, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate advantages from disadvantages. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, sentences like 'It has been seen breakdown of relationships' lack smooth transitions, and the abrupt ending of the third paragraph ('As a result, some families separated personally as well as professionally as business create boundaries.') disrupts logical progression. Referencing and conjunctions are occasionally awkward, placing this text firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'renowned personalities', 'disclosures', and 'legacy'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'owing a family business' instead of 'owning', and 'some loses due to someone' instead of 'losses'. Spelling and morphological issues appear, but the vocabulary remains minimally sufficient to convey meaning without impeding overall communication, matching the Band 6.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'Having a business together also have many disadvantages' (subject-verb agreement), 'it is less likely disclosures' (missing verb structure), and 'take time to earn the reputations' (article and pluralization misuse). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a Band 6.5.
