Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is seen that in many countries, individuals work with thier family members in thier business. I personally believe that it has more merits compared to demerits, because family business leads to stronger internal bond and provide more time to send with each other. I intend to discuss these views in the following paragraphs.
One major benefit of working in a family business is that it leads to stronger connection between the family members. In other words, if all those members share one single goal to achieve and work in co-ordination, then it will lead to harmony among them. For instance, in India, there are several small businesses like grocery and clothing stores are run by family members, they work smoothly and communicate internally to focus on sells. As a result, they found to be more connected internally and stay in a positive environment.
Furthermore, another merit of family business is that people who are working under one roof, get more time to communicate. To explain it, many businesses have a proper setup where all the family members are working together to achieve their goals. This setup gives teme oppotrunities to stay close and arrange meetings for discussion. In addition, all members try to take their meals together at their workplace. As an outcome, they get a significant amount of time for sharing their ideas and to have personal conversations. It gives them a sense of belonging.
To summarize, in my opinion, working together in the family business is always advantageous beacuse it provides them plentyful of time to talk internally. Additionally, they can create stronger internal connection with each other and ultimate strong family foundation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether family businesses have more advantages than disadvantages, taking a clear position in the introduction that advantages outweigh disadvantages. The student provides two main supporting arguments: stronger internal bonds and increased communication time, illustrated with an example from India. However, the development of ideas leans towards repetition, as both body paragraphs essentially focus on improved communication and closeness among family members. The discussion could have been enhanced by addressing potential disadvantages, such as conflicts mixing personal and professional lives, to provide a more balanced and fully extended analysis. Nevertheless, all parts of the prompt are addressed, supporting a Band 6.0 level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay is structured logically with an introduction, two body paragraphs focusing on separate supporting points, and a concluding paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are employed to connect sentences and arguments, such as 'One major benefit', 'Furthermore', and 'To summarize'. However, some cohesive referencing is occasionally mechanical or repetitive, and transitional phrases like 'To explain it' and 'As an outcome' reflect a somewhat formulaic style. Overall organisation is coherent and progression is generally clear, though lexical referencing could be smoother, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, incorporating terms such as 'harmony', 'co-ordination', 'significant amount', and 'sense of belonging'. However, there are numerous noticeable spelling errors throughout the text, including 'thier' instead of 'their', 'co-ordination', 'sells' instead of 'sales', 'teme' instead of 'them', 'oppotrunities' instead of 'opportunities', 'beacuse', and 'plentyful'. While these errors do not severely impede communication and the meaning remains clear, they restrict the lexical score. Less common vocabulary is attempted but often marred by inaccurate spelling and word choice limitations, placing this response firmly in the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'if all those members share one single goal to achieve and work in co-ordination, then it will lead to harmony among them'. There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'provide more time to send with each other' (instead of 'spend'), 'grocery and clothing stores are run by family members, they work smoothly' (run-on sentence), and 'ultimate strong family foundation'. Despite these errors in grammar and punctuation, the sentences are generally understandable and communication is rarely impeded. This performance corresponds to a Band 6.
