Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the rapid developing world, family businesses have been led by their members itself to grow regularly without any trouble. I believe that It has numerous advantages as compare to disadvantages. This essay will explore the valid reasons along with appropriate examples in the ensuing paragraphs.

The chief advantage is that it provides better steady growth in the specific sector. This is mainly possible due to that each and every personnel who are working in a company is only the family members. So that it might be easier to put trust on them. The prime example of this, some big companies run by their family members itself. Consequently, it leads to the tremendous growth. In addition to this, each person can strenghthen their relationship between themselves by doing work together.

The another crucial advantage is that it retains their family business for a long period of time. This is mainly occurs due to fact that all the family members knows each and every aspects of their own business since their childhood or they have been trained by their own family member with whom they live. For instance, Reliance has been started by Mr. Mukesh Ambani and now, it has been handled by his son, Mr. Akash Ambani. As a result of this, the business run on track if it leads by some trained person.

On the other hand, it has some disadvantages as well. The main drawback is that it creates some relationship issues when the business growth drops down. It badly affects the business as well as interpersonal relationship.

In conclusion, although there are many troubles might be possible to work together in a family but if working in an orgised way, it becomes easier to grow simultaneously for each and every member of the business. Apart from this, there might be chances that the business may sustained for a long period with effective relationship with others. Therefore, I believe that advantage outweighs disdvantage for doing family business.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting arguments for both the advantages and disadvantages of family businesses, ultimately taking a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Main ideas are presented, such as steady growth and strong trust, and supported with some explanation and examples like Reliance and Mr. Mukesh Ambani. However, some arguments tend to be slightly repetitive or under-developed, and the explanation lacks depth in places, such as the brief treatment of disadvantages in a single short paragraph. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate distinct points. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen in awkward transitions like 'This is mainly possible due to that each and every personnel' and 'The another crucial advantage'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression between sentences occasionally falters due to grammatical interference. Overall, the organizational structure is adequate for a Band 6.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'interpersonal relationship', 'tremendous growth', and 'drawback'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'rapid developing' instead of 'rapidly developing', 'personnel who are working' instead of 'personnel who work', and 'orgised' instead of 'organized'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ambition. However, control over complex structures is inconsistent, leading to frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Examples include 'family businesses have been led by their members itself', 'It has numerous advantages as compare to disadvantages', and 'all the family members knows'. Punctuation and articles also require closer attention. While communication is generally maintained, the density of errors prevents the grammar score from reaching Band 6.0, placing it firmly at Band 5.0.
