Student answer (Band 5.5)

Business play a vital roll in economy. People continue their family work in many places where they appoint their family members as a worker. This essay will discuss why I strongly believe that it has more negative impact such as lack of productivity and reduction in customer's loyality.

To commence with , there are numerous factors which are shows that it reduce the productivity. This is because people give the work to their family members even they do not have a proper knowledge about the work. Hence, it effect efficiency and reduce the productivity of the work. For instance, a person gives the potision to their family member as a financial advicer even he has not enough knowledge about finance. As a result, that person could face financial losses because of the poor advices which are given by their family member.

Furthermore, another factor is reduction in customer's loyality. To explace it, people go there where they find good quality of procuts and food , but when businessman appoint their family person because of the relation even he do not know the making of products and food and ignor best candidates who have the good knowledge. Therefore, because of the poor quility of product and food customers avoid to buy things form there and businessman can get the reduction in customers who are loyal with him.

In conclusion, Although there are various reasons which shows that it have more disadvantages such as oor productivity and efficiency as well as reduction in customers, it has also advantage of businessman can not only blindly trust on the person who work for him but also it hepls to continue the family busioness in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear position on whether family businesses have more advantages than disadvantages, arguing primarily that the disadvantages outweigh the benefits. Relevant ideas are presented, such as lack of productivity and reduced customer loyalty. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack full extension. For instance, the discussion on hiring unqualified family members as financial advisors is introduced but not fully explored with broader implications for the business model as a whole. Similarly, the counterargument in the conclusion introduces valid points about trust and continuity, but these are tacked on at the end rather than being properly integrated and supported in the body paragraphs. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to ensure all main ideas are thoroughly explained and supported with fully articulated examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays an overall coherent arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a discernible progression of ideas, moving from an introductory thesis to distinct points regarding productivity and customer loyalty. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and faulty. Phrases like 'To commence with' and 'To explace it' are somewhat awkward, and referencing is not always clear, such as ambiguous pronoun use ('a person gives the potision to their family member as a financial advicer even he has not enough knowledge'). Paragraphing is used, but the internal transitions within paragraphs need to be smoother. To improve, the writer should employ a wider range of cohesive devices naturally and ensure that referencing between pronouns and their antecedents is precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'productivity', 'loyality', and 'financial advicer'. However, there is a noticeable presence of spelling and word-choice errors that reflect a limited and minimally adequate lexical range. Words such as 'roll' instead of 'role', 'potision' instead of 'position', 'advicer' instead of 'advisor', 'procuts' instead of 'products', 'ignor' instead of 'ignore', and 'quility' instead of 'quality' occur throughout the text. These errors, alongside collocation slips like 'reduction in customer's loyality', indicate that while communication is generally maintained, vocabulary control requires strengthening. To achieve a higher score, the writer must focus on accurate spelling, word formation, and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a limited range of structures, with frequent attempts at complex sentences that often become faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar, punctuation, and agreement that can cause some difficulty for the reader. For example, sentences such as 'This is because people give the work to their family members even they do not have a proper knowledge about the work' lack necessary prepositions and subordinating precision, while 'there are numerous factors which are shows that it reduce the productivity' contains tense and voice errors ('are shows', 'reduce'). Furthermore, article usage is frequently omitted or misused, as seen in 'businessman can get the reduction in customers'. To progress, the writer needs to improve control over complex sentence patterns, subject-verb agreement, and article accuracy to produce error-free structures more consistently.
