Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many nations, family members joined their family companies and help them grow the family empire

there are pros in joining the family bussiness is that people can guide you and it very secure , you get well controlled and structured company environment to rule ,there are less likely you face any problem like loosing the bussiness overnight and loss of money for eg I am studying the article where a superstar leave 100 million company to his son after his deathbed he say i am very relax that after my death there is one capable person that is my son is their to protect my empire.

On the other side, you do not have the freedom to choose the career in your life not everyone has dream or passion to run a company some people have different aspirations and goals in their career selections like they want to become doctors ,lawyer ,teacher ,farmer etc. most likely every things is depend on one person that is called ceo for decisions to rule company if something happen to person whole company will collaspe and all other people in family have no other skill to survive in their life for example their article about that after the death of ceo no one able to run the company they lost all the trust in family memeber they are good at work but still shareholder take all the money from them beacause of this reason

to conclude this , In my opnion it is very disadvantage to join the family business you should take the time to find the passion and select career very carefully because your whole life and family lifes depends on it. if you really want want to go on bussiness is fine it should be your choice.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position and discussing both advantages and disadvantages of family businesses. The ideas presented are relevant, such as the security of a structured environment versus the lack of career freedom, but some aspects are under-developed or unclear. For instance, the discussion on the advantages relies on a general example about a superstar leaving a company, which lacks specific clarity and depth. Similarly, the counterargument concerning the CEO's role is somewhat repetitive and generalized rather than thoroughly extended. To move to a higher band, the writer would need to fully develop every idea with more precise explanations and well-supported examples rather than skimming over points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance presented in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate the advantages in the first body paragraph from the disadvantages in the second. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always clear, as seen in run-on sentences and loose transitions between ideas such as 'On the other side' and 'to conclude this'. The flow is occasionally hindered by a lack of appropriate punctuation and signposting words to guide the reader smoothly from one point to the next. To achieve a higher band, the writer must employ cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure logical progression throughout the text without relying on repetitive sentence connectors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to use less common items and subject-specific terms such as 'empire', 'shareholder', and 'aspirations'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors like 'bussiness' and 'collaspe', alongside word-choice inaccuracies such as 'leave' instead of 'leaves' or 'left', and awkward collocations like 'family lifes'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the range and precision of the response. To progress further, the writer needs to expand their lexical repertoire, pay closer attention to word forms and collocations, and eliminate recurring spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including run-on sentences, missing articles, and issues with verb forms and tense agreement, such as 'every things is depend' and 'no one able to run'. These errors sometimes cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited level of control over complex grammatical patterns. To reach a higher standard, the writer must improve punctuation control, ensure accurate subject-verb agreement, and reduce the frequency of structural errors in more complex sentences.
