Student answer (Band 5.0)

Family business become topic of discussion in this modern era . Some people think this type of business have more positive impacts while others are opposing with this point of view . I will discuss both points along with my own opinion in the upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, in family business there are plenty of positive outcomes which helps to grow the business in good way . In this society no one have more assests to grown their business by own without taking anyone help and if we are running business with more people there are less chances of loss because there will be contribute in work by each partner and the others members will also do their job in good way when they have any shares in the business .Addition to this, evryone have different mindset , so in this way we have more strategies to run company in the smooth way.

However , If person comes is more hardworking or come with new strategy in business it easily organize big business . For instance KFC is such an example whose owner dont even have muchh funds but he have idea that time and have good cooking skills which helps him to start his own business then after got little success he make his own franchise and start selling to people from different regions and manage such a good business then it expands to globally . so if anyone have a good dedication or have good skills in the perticular field then they would definetely achieve big in their life.

In conclusion , this is such a compatative era so according to my point of view people should go with the idea of opening their companies by collecting more patners . So you have more funds to run business and less risk in future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting limited and under-developed ideas regarding family businesses. While the introduction outlines the intention to discuss both sides and give a personal opinion, the body paragraphs struggle to sustain a clear focus on whether family businesses have more advantages than disadvantages. For instance, the second paragraph mentions potential advantages like shared workload and diverse mindsets, but these points remain superficial and lack specific examples. Furthermore, the third paragraph introduces an irrelevant example about KFC and an individual founder, which fails to directly address the core prompt concerning family-run enterprises. The overall position is not always clear throughout the response, as the arguments tend to drift into general business partnerships rather than focusing strictly on family dynamics.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation in the essay, featuring a traditional four-paragraph structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, such as repetitive transitions like 'To begin with,' 'However,' and 'In conclusion.' Referencing is also not always clear, as seen in the third paragraph where pronouns lack clear antecedents ('if person comes is more hardworking or come with new strategy...'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs is disrupted by abrupt shifts in topic, particularly when transitioning from family members to general business partners and the KFC example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'compatative,' 'strategy,' and 'franchise,' but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in spelling, word choice, and word form (e.g., 'assests,' 'grown,' 'perticular'). There are also awkward collocations and phrasing like 'grow the business in good way' and 'achieve big in their life.' These lexical shortcomings and frequent spelling errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical range that prevents the response from achieving a higher level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside a few faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Family business become,' 'everyone have'), missing articles ('in business,' 'with new strategy'), and incorrect verb forms ('dont even have muchh funds'). Punctuation is also problematic, with incorrect spacing before commas and periods, and run-on sentences joined improperly by conjunctions. These persistent errors restrict the grammatical score, as complex structures frequently contain mistakes.
