Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many Countries, all or most of the family members work together to grow their business. In my perspective, advantages outweigh the disadvantages which i will enunciate in the upcoming paragraphs.
To start with, one of the advantages is the belongingness. As every member know their business, have emotions and understand how to take it to the top. Therefore members will add their extra efforts to ahieve success in the business. Secondly, they can learn from past mistakes. To illustrate, if in the past there was a wrong step or strategy taken by their elder which resulted in loss to the business. that will be familair with all the members, therefore there would be less chances of repeating the same. It will save the resources and time involvement in such different tasks. Last but not the least, there is no need to hire workforce from outside, instead they can use that money for investing in the business.
On the other side, it has some disadvantages. The business can lack from expertise in this advanced technology era. Also, there could be negligence in the members of the family. As the young generation knowing that they are going to work in their own family business, tend to refrain from the studies. which can have a detrimental effect on the business in the long run. Therefore, there is a need to hire an expert managerial people in the business to ensure that it is well-organised.
To conclude, it is a good idea that all family members work together for their business but they have to ensure that business is in good hands. If that lacks, should hire people from outside for smoother business operations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as belongingness, avoiding past mistakes, and financial savings on workforce, as well as counter-arguments regarding expertise and younger generation complacency. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack sufficient extension with specific examples. For instance, the point about the younger generation refraining from studies is stated briefly without concrete elaboration or a clear link to how it impacts the business long-term. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to fully develop every main point with more comprehensive explanations and specific supporting evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing both advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct themes. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'To start with', 'Secondly', and 'On the other side'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, such as the abrupt transition in 'As the young generation knowing that they are going to work in their own family business, tend to refrain from the studies. which can have a detrimental effect'. Progression is visible, but smoothing out the links between sentences would elevate the organizational control.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the writer's perspective with terms like 'belongingness', 'detrimental effect', and 'well-organised'. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these are accompanied by noticeable word choice, collocation, and word form errors that occasionally cause slight difficulty for the reader, such as 'enunciate' used instead of outline, 'expert managerial people', and 'familiar with all the members' instead of familiar to. Spelling is generally fine, but lexical control lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands, displaying limitations in phrasing and natural collocation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses. There are, however, several grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including sentence fragments ('which can have a detrimental effect'), missing articles ('in this advanced technology era'), punctuation issues ('mistakes. To illustrate'), and subject-verb agreement or tense inconsistencies like 'As every member know their business, have emotions'. While these errors do not seriously impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the grammar score from rising into the next band, where a higher proportion of error-free sentences would be expected.
