Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is true that family business trend is increasing day by day and there are number of firms which runs by whole famlies. From my point of view, There are more prons of family business than cons which i will discuss in upcoming paragraphs.

Firsty, working all family members in one business increases the productivity of business because all the family members give their best at work rather then a normal employee.Secondly, all family working together helps to keep a company seceret more safely beacuse their are number of job positions which carry crucial data of a company and if an unknown person will be there then there are high chance of data or formula leaking. For example , Coca cola as we know there are only 2 person in this world who know the secret of making coca cola and they come from same family.

Moreover, running a family business decrease the job quiting trend in a comapny because there are less chances of joining and quiting. When a employee find a better option in market then he or she try to grab it and when they left the job they left with thier experience which some time put bad effect on a company performance.

On the other hands, there are gallons disadvantages of family business and having a lack of talent is one of them. When a business runs by a solo family then there are less chance of new ideas and startagies which only come from a different mindset employee. For example, if there are different type of knowldge carring persons in company then a high chance of new ideas.

At the end i think running a business by family is more advantagable rathen than a employess woks and high change of sucess .

Lexical Resource5.0
Grammatical Range and Accuracy5.0
Overall5.5

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of family businesses, presenting a clear position in the introduction that there are more benefits than drawbacks. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as increased productivity and better protection of company secrets, as seen in the Coca-Cola example. However, some ideas remain under-developed. For instance, the discussion regarding the reduction in job quitting and the lack of talent relies on broad generalizations rather than being fully extended with detailed explanations or robust examples. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to ensure that every main idea is thoroughly supported and explored with deeper analysis and more specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable structure, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding remark. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions between points, such as 'Firsty', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover', though some referencing and mechanical links feel slightly repetitive or awkward. Paragraphing is utilized to separate main points, such as shifting from advantages to disadvantages with 'On the other hands'. Progression is generally maintained, but referencing can sometimes be unclear, such as pronoun use referring back to previous clauses. To achieve a higher standard, the writer should employ a wider and more natural range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother logical transitions between paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to discuss business concepts using terms like 'productivity', 'crucial data', and 'strategies'. However, there is a limited and repetitive range, alongside noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation, such as 'prons' instead of 'pros', 'seceret' instead of 'secret', 'quiting' instead of 'quitting', and 'advantagable'. These lexical slips and inaccurate collocations reflect a limited control over less common vocabulary. To improve in this area, the writer must expand their active vocabulary, pay closer attention to word formation, and eliminate spelling errors by carefully reviewing their work.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures, such as when discussing employees finding better options in the market. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'there are number of firms which runs', missing articles, and awkward prepositional usage inside grammatical patterns. While these errors are present, they rarely impede overall communication. To reach the next level, the writer needs to increase the proportion of error-free sentences, improve control over complex grammatical structures, and ensure greater accuracy in punctuation and subject-verb agreement.
