Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally and fails to meet the required word count, stopping abruptly at one hundred thirty-seven words. While the writer manages to present a position and briefly touch upon both advantages and disadvantages, the ideas are severely limited and under-developed due to the lack of length. The development of points such as stable income and trustworthy environments remains superficial and incomplete. To reach a higher level, the writer must fully develop all parts of the task with extended supporting ideas and adequate length to ensure the prompt is comprehensively addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organization present, with an introduction that outlines the writer's stance and attempts at paragraphing. However, the overall progression is limited because the essay cuts off prematurely. Cohesive devices are used in a basic manner, such as 'Although this trend', 'Ultimately', and 'Also', but referencing is at times mechanical. To improve coherence and cohesion, the response needs a logical arrangement of fully formed body paragraphs with smoother transitions and a proper concluding paragraph that summarizes the main points effectively.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, featuring basic and familiar words alongside some spelling errors like 'finacially' and 'memebers', as well as a typographic error in 'comapny's'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'stable income' and 'trustworthy', but the range remains limited and errors cause occasional strain. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to incorporate a wider and more flexible range of lexical items, using less common vocabulary with greater precision and eliminating spelling and word-choice mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The text shows a limited range of sentence structures, primarily relying on basic constructions alongside some simple attempts at complex sentences, such as 'Although this trend has several benefits...'. Frequent errors appear in articles, prepositions, and plurals, such as 'doing family business' instead of 'running a family business' and 'give highly trustful environment' instead of 'gives a highly trustful environment'. Punctuation and verb agreements also show lapses. To move upward, the writer must produce a greater variety of complex structures with improved accuracy, ensuring that basic grammatical patterns are reliably controlled.
