Student answer (Band 6.0)
Undoubtly, it is common for family members to worl together in their family-owned business rather then work in any multinational company. Although , this type to business create some challenges , I personally believe that benefits outweigh the drawbacks which i will elaborate in upcoming paragraphs.
First and the foremost advantage of a family business is that knowledge and experience can passed from one generation to another . Older family members teach their young ones about business deeply about how to deal with money , solving problems and customer satisfaction.
Secondly , if their is running family business , there is no need to worry about attracting customers . As reputated business have permanent clients we just need to maintain same reputation and figure out the idea to expand the business rather than taking stress of advertising or promating on large level.
Thirdly , trust is key to make any business successful. if we work with our own family members , we can trust each other blindly . Family members know each other very well they can help during problem periods . By mainting the postive environment at work place it will help to grow that at peak level. Everyone it is personally to maintain the rating , good service and positive work environment.
However, family business also have some disadvantages. Personal disagreements can be sometime lead to serious conflict in family . For example , two family members have different opinions about expanding business or attracting customers . This some create seperation among them if they didnot find any relevant solution .
In conclusion , family business sometime cause problems among family members . I personally trust that pros such as trust , experience are greater then cons if they manage it professionally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you believe the benefits of family businesses outweigh the drawbacks, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both sides with relevant points, including passing experience between generations, established customers, trust, and disagreements over business decisions. These examples show a sound response to the question. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The point about established customers assumes that a family business already has a strong reputation, without explaining how this advantage applies more generally. The disadvantage is also brief: you mention conflict but could explain its effects on decision-making or family relationships. Develop each point with a clearer explanation or a specific example to make the argument more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First,” “Secondly,” and “Thirdly” make the main points easy to identify, and the overall progression from benefits to drawbacks is logical. Some cohesion is mechanical, however, because the advantages are presented mainly as a numbered list. Connections within paragraphs are also occasionally unclear: the shift from trust to maintaining a positive workplace and then to “Everyone it is personally to maintain the rating” is difficult to follow. Use linking expressions that show cause and effect, and make pronouns and references explicit. For example, explain who maintains the business’s reputation and how that relates to the preceding point about trust.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “generation,” “customer satisfaction,” “reputation,” “expand,” and “conflict.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, and there are attempts at more specific business-related expressions. However, errors in spelling, word form, and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “Undoubtly,” “reputated business,” “promating,” and “mainting the postive environment.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “trust each other blindly” and “grow that at peak level.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations of words and check spelling carefully. A more precise vocabulary range would help you express the business advantages and disadvantages with greater clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a concession in “Although …, I personally believe…” and a conditional idea about family members working together. However, control of sentence structure and basic grammar is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. For example, “knowledge and experience can passed” needs a passive verb form, while “if their is running family business” has errors in the verb and article. Agreement is also problematic in “family business also have some disadvantages,” and several sentences lack clear boundaries or punctuation. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence patterns before adding more complex structures. Clearer sentence construction will make your reasoning easier to follow.
