Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many countries family members work together in their family business. Family business has some merits and demerits.

If we analize the family business has more advantages then disadvantages. Their are many benefits of family business for example when family member work to gether in specific business like agriculture they can earn more because the work can be divided into specific parts and it can be assigned to one by one that this work will this and this will do this. Family members can help each other in faimly business like if one of member is not feeling well or if he or she has to go somewhere else other faimly members can look after their works.

The main advantage of the faimli business is that family business runs after generations to generations. Faimly business provides strong base to their offspring that they can learn from their faimly and then they can start business. In this they do not have to take pressure of resoures and the fundings because faimly already provide them .

One of the main benefit of the faimly business is that the risk of failure is less as compared to the new one business because this business is passing through generation to generation. For example , if someones faimly has a business of hotels and they are running this business together , they can eat the same food in the home they have prepared for the guest in this way they can save time and money.

Family business also have some disadvanteges because in faimly business ,\

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a clear overall view—“family business has more advantages”—and give relevant reasons, including shared workloads, support when a relative is unavailable, and passing knowledge and resources to the next generation. However, the response does not fully address the question: it ends just as you begin discussing disadvantages (“Family business also have some disadvanteges because…”), so no disadvantage is explained and the comparison remains incomplete. Several advantages are asserted rather than developed; for example, the hotel example about eating food prepared for guests does not clearly show why the risk of business failure is lower. The response is also one word below the 250-word minimum, with the 11 words copied from the prompt excluded. Develop both sides and explain examples more directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation: the response moves from a general position to several advantages, and paragraph breaks separate related points. Basic links such as “For example” and “because” help show relationships between ideas. However, there is no completed conclusion, and the final paragraph stops mid-thought, leaving the overall progression unfinished. Ideas within sentences are sometimes difficult to follow, particularly the explanation that work “can be assigned to one by one that this work will this and this will do this.” Repeated use of “family business” and “family members” also makes the writing repetitive, while references such as “this business” are not always precise. Use clearer topic sentences, organise advantages and disadvantages into distinct paragraphs, and finish with a conclusion that restates your judgement.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “generations,” “risk of failure,” “resources,” and “fundings.” Some phrases, such as “strong base” and “risk of failure,” show an attempt to express business concepts rather than relying only on very basic words. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “analize,” “faimly,” “resoures,” and “disadvanteges.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “runs after generations to generations” and “the new one business,” which can make the reader pause. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Vary repeated words with suitable alternatives such as “enterprise,” “relatives,” and “successors.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and conditions, for example, “Family members can help each other… if one of member is not feeling well.” This shows some effort to connect ideas in more than one way. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences difficult to read. Examples include “If we analize the family business has more advantages,” where the clause structure is incomplete, and “Family business also have,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect. Articles and plurals are also often missing or inaccurate, as in “one of member” and “the risk… is less.” The final sentence is unfinished. Practise building complete sentences with accurate agreement, articles, and punctuation, then check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
