Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many parts of the world, people like to work in their family business with family members because they feel more comfortable. They have a better understanding. However, its for them to work at another place. so trend has both positive and negative side.
To begin with, in this modern era, family businesses are run by family members in many nations because working with family members gives more freedom, as they can work freely, which ultimately makes the workplace like home with a peaceful environment. For example, in UK study has shown that individuals who work in their family business are less burdened. As a result, businesses get more production, which helps businesses get more profit and limelight for their name. Apart from that, in a family business, members can do better teamwork and help each other to correct mistakes without any conflict.
However, there are some negative effects of working in a family business; first of all, sometimes in a family business, members start to take advantage and become lazy, which puts pressure on other family members to work fast. Secondly, financial issues become the main problem as in a family business if the company faces loss then the whole family have to struggle with that which can sometimes break the family bonds with each other. For instance, it is seen that family members who work in their mother or father business quit more than other workers. As a result it put bad impact on company.
In conclusion, working in family business has both cons and pros where working together leads to more profit. on the other hand some time members starts taking advance of the freedom

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both sides of the question and give a relevant position: family businesses can create a comfortable workplace and support teamwork, but they may also lead to laziness and financial strain. The examples about reduced pressure and family members leaving a business help illustrate these points. However, the position is not fully clear: the introduction says the trend has positive and negative sides, while the conclusion does not clearly answer whether advantages outweigh disadvantages. Several claims, such as businesses gaining “more production” and family workers quitting more often, are asserted without explanation or convincing support. State your judgement directly and develop one or two key reasons with clearer examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the link between a peaceful environment, increased production, and greater profit is asserted rather than explained. Some connectors are mechanical, and the final paragraph introduces an incomplete contrast instead of bringing the argument to a clear close. Improve cohesion by making each paragraph follow a clear sequence—main point, explanation, example—and use referencing carefully so readers can easily identify what “it” or “that” refers to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “family business,” “financial issues,” “family bonds,” and “teamwork.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “less burdened” and “take advantage.” However, the range is limited and several choices or combinations are unnatural or imprecise, which can make the argument harder to follow. For example, “get more production” and “limelight for their name” do not express the intended business outcomes naturally, while “take advantage” needs a clear object or a more precise phrase. Aim for accurate collocations and avoid repeating general words such as “business” and “members”; alternatives like “enterprise,” “employees,” or “relatives” can add variety where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “as,” and “which,” so the response shows some structural variety. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and punctuation occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “the whole family have to struggle,” “it put bad impact,” and “members starts taking,” where the verb forms or agreement are incorrect. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in “so trend” and “on the other hand.” Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly matched verb, and use shorter sentences when a longer structure becomes difficult to control.
