Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often seen that relatives work in a team in their family owned business. I believe that it offers many advantages, but also has some limitations.

To initiate with, working together can strengthen bond between family members and enhance productivity. This is particularly because, by working in a team they can develop a better understanding about each other. Moreover, an effective teamwork can simultaneously increase productivity and accuracy. For example, in a family business it is easy to take off from work as others have sympathy for each other, which reduces the chances of low production and mistakes.

Moreover, the another main advantage of this is shared responsibilities. Everyone has their own duties and they tend to do with entire dedication as they know at the end each individual get equal profits. The more they share equal responsibilties, the less they are likely to experience work pressure. For instance, many family business owners claimed that due to working with family members in the workplaces the hardly feel stress during work.

However, sometimes shared organizations deal with leadship issues as every family member want to become a leader, which can lead to internal conflict among them. Due to this, it can impact the growth of a company and shared profit margins. However, it is easy to resolve because of shared goal and good understanding.

In conclusion, I acknowledge that working togther might create some conflicts, but its benefits such as equal proportion of money and peacefull environment outweigh the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you consider the benefits of family businesses greater than their drawbacks, and you address both sides of the question. The points about stronger family relationships, productivity and shared responsibilities are relevant, while the leadership-conflict paragraph provides a counterargument. Some ideas are supported with examples, such as relatives being able to cover for one another, but the explanation that this reduces mistakes and low production is not fully established. The claim that profits are shared equally also needs qualification, since this depends on how a business is organised. To develop the response further, explain the mechanisms behind each benefit and give a more specific, credible example; also clarify why shared goals make leadership disputes easier to resolve.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs on advantages, a paragraph on a disadvantage, and a conclusion that restates your view. This makes the line of argument easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “For instance” to signal relationships between ideas. At times, though, these links feel mechanical or do not show the precise connection: “However” appears twice in the final body paragraph, and “To initiate with” is an awkward opening transition. Some references, including “this” in “the another main advantage of this,” are not fully clear. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make links between claims and explanations more explicit to create smoother progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “productivity,” “shared responsibilities,” “internal conflict,” and “profit margins.” There are also attempts at less common phrasing, but several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems make the expression less natural: “family owned business,” “take off from work,” “shared organizations,” and “peacefull environment.” Errors such as “responsibilties,” “leadship,” and “togther” are noticeable, although the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “shared” and “family members.” Aim for more precise business vocabulary, check spelling carefully, and learn common word partnerships so that your range is not only adequate but also more flexible and accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “as every family member want to become a leader” and a conditional-style explanation beginning “as they know at the end…”. Most sentences remain understandable, and the errors do not usually prevent the reader from following your argument. However, some grammatical inaccuracies persist: “strengthen bond” needs an article or plural, “an effective teamwork” has an incorrect article, and “every family member want” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence “they tend to do with entire dedication” also has an incomplete grammatical pattern, while “each individual get” needs agreement. Review articles, agreement and sentence construction, then proofread for these recurring issues while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
