Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many countries, family business play an important role in the economy, as relative often work together to manage and develop their companies together. Although, this type of business can sometime lead personal conflicts, but I believe that family business have more advantages than disadvantages.
One majar advantage of family business that person can trust the family member because they know them. Since relatives knows each other well so they can communicate easily and share their responsibilities. Moreover, they are more dedicated to the work as the profit will share among the family member. For instance, a family is running a restaurant where parent may manage the kitchen and the childrens are focused on the customer service and finance. This will reduce the cost of labour and help to operate business smoothly. Another benefit is that family business can pass the knowledge from one gneration to next generation, so that there company continuing growing.
On the other hand, family business have some disadvantages. One problem is there is a disagreement between two peoples which will also effect in their relationship. For example, two sibilings how to run their business may find it difficult to work together peacefully. In addition, family members may assign their roles not on their ability but on how close to the member which will also cause dissatisfaction among members.
In conclusion, in family business can experience conflicts and personal disagreement which will cause int the growth of the company. Nevertheless, i believe that it ha more advantage because you have trust on person and assign work according to skilss as well as you can save money on labour and share profit among family members.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you believe family businesses have more advantages, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both sides with relevant points, including trust, shared responsibilities, passing knowledge between generations, and disagreements over roles. The restaurant example helps illustrate how relatives might divide tasks and reduce labour costs. This meets the task well, but development is uneven: the advantages are explained more fully than the disadvantages, and the point about inherited knowledge is asserted rather than supported with an example or explanation. To strengthen the response, explain how each point affects business performance and make the comparison between the benefits and drawbacks more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For instance,” and “On the other hand” help signal the relationship between ideas, and the reader can follow the main argument. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The opening uses “Although” and “but” together, while “Since relatives knows each other well so” combines two linking patterns. The conclusion also introduces the idea of assigning work according to skills, which is not clearly established in the body. Use linking devices more selectively and ensure that the final summary reflects the points already developed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “personal conflicts,” “responsibilities,” “dedicated,” “dissatisfaction,” and “generation.” These choices allow you to communicate the main ideas, but the range and control are limited, with repeated phrases such as “family business” and several inaccurate word forms or collocations. Examples include “pass the knowledge,” “effect in their relationship,” and “trust on person”; these may make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Spelling errors such as “majar,” “gneration,” and “sibilings” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural business collocations and check spelling and word forms during revision, while avoiding unnecessary repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “Since” and a relative clause in the restaurant example. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “family business play” and “relatives knows” have subject–verb agreement problems, while “One major advantage … that person can trust” is missing a linking verb and article. The opening also joins “Although” with “but,” creating a faulty structure. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, then review agreement and article use, especially in longer sentences.
