Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays faily businesses are growing rapidly and family members themselves get chance to work there. I think that family businesses have more benefits as compared to their frawbacks. However, I will discuss the other part of this notion as well.
To begin with, there are various advantages of family businesses to family members. First and Foremost, it take genrations to build a successful family business. When family members work together, they put all their efforts to make it more successful and also make it international bacause they know that they are the upcoming owners of the business. For instance, in India, Ambanis are most successful businessmen as a family. Ambanis both boys are running their companies to grow. As a result, when new genration with new and fresh ideas wprk in their family business, they help to grow it more. Secondly, expansion of business will help to increase the employement in the country. Young generation with talent may get chance to show their skills in comapnies and may get promotions. Apart from employement, the large established family business contribute to the country's economic growth as they pay taxed out of their large income.
On the other side, there could be possible disadvantages of family businesses. Firstly, family businesses may perioritize their children to become owners or CEO in the future regardless of their capabilities or skills. As a result, children's failure may lead to loss of business. Moreover, people who have more skills and capability to run the business may be overshadow by family members becuase family business believe in their next generation to run a business more than a capable person.
In nutshell, family businesses grow fast withtrust, new ideas and talent of new generation of the family which leads to new employment and economic growth of a country. However, it may leads to overshadow people who deserve the position beacause of periority to family members.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you believe family businesses have more benefits than drawbacks, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both sides with relevant points, including investment in growth, employment and economic contribution, as well as favouritism towards relatives and the risk of appointing an unsuitable successor. The Ambani example also helps make the discussion more specific. Some ideas, however, are less fully explained than others: the link between family members’ efforts and international expansion is asserted rather than demonstrated, and the employment and tax points could be connected more directly to family businesses. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each main point and support them with a clearer example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages and a concluding summary. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Secondly,” and “On the other side” help readers follow the argument, and the conclusion returns to the central comparison. This gives the essay a coherent progression. However, some links feel mechanical, and the advantages paragraph moves quickly from family commitment to employment and tax contributions without fully showing how each point connects to the main claim. The final sentence also compresses several ideas, making the relationship between trust, new ideas and economic growth less clear. Use fewer formulaic transitions and add linking explanations between claims so the progression feels more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “upcoming owners,” “economic growth,” “capabilities,” and “overshadow,” which allows you to discuss succession and employment. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, for example “faily,” “genration,” “employement,” and “periority.” Some collocations are also awkward or imprecise: “pay taxed” should be “pay taxes,” while “Ambanis both boys” does not express the intended relationship naturally. These slips sometimes make the reader pause, even though the overall meaning remains understandable. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships as complete phrases. More precise choices such as “prioritise family members” and “qualified candidates” would also make the argument clearer and more formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “children’s failure may lead to loss of business” and a subordinate clause beginning “because.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical control remain noticeable. For example, “it take generations” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “the large established family business contribute” also needs agreement between the subject and verb. In “people who have more skills and capability … may be overshadow,” the passive construction is incomplete; use “may be overshadowed.” The final sentence, “it may leads,” also has an incorrect verb form after “may.” Review agreement, modal verb patterns and passive forms, then proofread each sentence for a complete and accurate structure.
